Honestly, Councilman, I think there are some rare individuals who transcend partisanship. Ferraro never struck me as an ideologue, she worked to help people in all sincerity. The people at Fox News where she was a contributor are clearly touched by her passing. They describe her character in glowing terms. Fox is spending a lot of time interviewing people who knew her. I've rarely heard such warm memories with specific instances of her humor, kindness and wisdom.

Don't forget, she defended Sarah Palin.

I was just reminded that she had a difficult childhood. Her father died when she was 8 years old and her mother supported the family as a seamstress in the garment district in NYC.

I agree with your assessment, and I have been watching FOX most of the day and I noticed that.

I always admired her, I never agreed with her...but she was always very intelligent and well spoken.

I know... I am bit shocked by her take on women in politics and feminism. I have had a lot of feminist friends... many of them were males, and they weren't gay or pushovers. A lot of the female feminists I knew in college were very academic and very intelligent... Many of them were concerned about women's issues in foreign countries and helping women globally..

When people really understand what feminism is, it's easy to know why men would be attracted to the movement too. Sexism isn't just a woman's issue...

Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

She was interviewed many times during the 2008 campaign because of the similarities between her and Palin.

    Again, how young are you?

Neither did I. It wasn't all that long ago that I saw her on the news contributing commentary.

She was a Democrat, when being a Democrat was cool.

That's because you get a 10-point infraction in an R.I.P. thread if you bring them in

Careful not to troll an R.I.P. thread

I'm 33. In her glory day, I was focused on transformers. A lot of talking heads were interviewed during the campaign. Not previously knowing the name, if I heard it I would have dismissed it. I wasn't really interested in what other people thought of the candidates. I was interested in what the candidate themselves said and did, so if a show wasn't that candidate speaking, or satire, I changed the channel.
