I wasn't alive when Ferraro ran for VP so I can't comment on her personality or attitude.
Ferraro was never shrill. Hillary and Sarah Palin are often shrill. And catty according to many who know them. Projecting strength is not the same as simply being strong. If they're seen as cold bitches it's because they are projecting hardness and coldness not strength. Graciousness is so important. Seems many women in their attempt to be as strong as men have forgotten that.

The first woman on a major party's presidential ticket, Gerry will be remembered.

So what is a good way for a female politician to project strength without being shrill? (Again i'm young, Margaret Thatcher was before my time).
Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

It sounds like Marshabar may enjoy the style of the late Jeanne Kirkpatrick.

I honestly think good old fashioned charm school would help. The women's movement destroyed the entire concept of graciousness in the women who cleave to the politics of gender equality.

I know many women who never married because they adopted anger as part of their politics while they were in college. An angry woman is an unattractive woman. I helped out one good friend when she met a man she was interested in by suggesting for example when this man was riding his motorcycle across country and fell ill, that she must feel very badly imagining him out there in the elements feeling very sick. It had never occurred to her to empathize or to care about his comfort because in her mind men were the enemy even if the man was her boyfriend.

Love Jeanne Kirkpatrick. Wish there were more like her.

For the most part a lot of my female friends are feminists (my ex-gf was a pretty big feminist) and none of them adopted the politics of anger, so perhaps my generation is different.

It was common for women rights activists to not marry when times were different in regards to property and estate rights. Women more or less just had to follow the man, even should he be the incompetent one. In many ways it spelled political activism's death. Though, in more contemporary times it just seems rather odd.
