Canadian government falls, election set for May

OTTAWA (Reuters) – The opposition toppled Canada's Conservative government on Friday, accusing it of sleaze and mismanagement, setting the scene for a May election that polls indicate the Conservatives will win.

Opposition legislators threw papers in the air in glee after voting 156-145 in the House of Commons to defeat the minority government, which they also say has mismanaged the economy and is overly secretive.
The irony here is that Conservatives in Canada are about to win an election, after their coalition was toppled. Why would the Conservatives win after losing, you ask? Because of all those Liberal FRENCH Canadians, who are predicted to surrender, come election time.

    Article is here.

This shows the utter stupidity of Micheal Ignattief, what the hell did he hope to accomplish by this?

There's no way he'll be elected Prime Minister.

    Harper will cling onto power.

    Bad Move Mikey, bad move.

In the middle of a budget crisis, lets all spend a ****load of money on a federal election.

    Moron.

Canada has moved so much to the Left it is in need of serious reform but I doubt it will happen any time soon.

Their Socialized medical system is in disarray and allows the ill to die rather than trying to save lives.

It should be a warning to those who back the Obama plan, but thery are Liberals and they never learn.

    Jesus.

Dumbest thing I've read in awhile.

Don't know what country you're talking about.

    But it ain't Canada.

Not to start a war on whose country is better, but it had to be said…

I won’t claim our healthcare system is without its faults, but NOBODY gets denied because they don’t have insurance. NOBODY I know has gone broke because of an illness… From what I remember, Canada’s books weren’t in as bad a shape as the US’s when the meltdown happened, and I’d rather invest in just about ANY dollar than the US’s right now…

I’ve witnessed long waits for some people with health problems, but I’ve NEVER seen or heard of anyone dying because they couldn’t get care. As bubba pointed out, we even spend too much keeping people alive who’d rather be dead.

If you are near deaths door, you get bumped to the head of the line, pronto, even if you have to take it upon yourself to go to emergency… We have too many people using Emergency for silly reasons, that’s about it…

I would agree that is one of the dumbest things I’ve read in awhile. Not partisan at all either.

But, back to topic, yes, we have a bunch of effing yahoo’s running our country too. Canadians had two concerns of late.

    1. Keeping their jobs, job creation
    2. NO ELECTION

Ah well, at least the bud in BC is strong enough to tune them out, and I won’t be doing 10 years for having a roach in my ashtray…

    Peace

The budget was designed to trigger a non-confidence vote and an election. The poll numbers favour the conservatives right now, but the other thing to consider is that only 58% of Canadians voted in the last federal election. Nothing is for certain.

Forcing people into healthcare is anti-liberal.
