A leading rights group says the Egyptian army arrested, tortured and forced women to take "virginity tests" during protests earlier this month.

Amnesty International is calling on the authorities in Cairo to investigate.

It says at least 18 female protesters were arrested after army officers cleared Tahrir Square on 9 March.

"Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war. . .

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss" The Who

So very sad for these young women who has such hope.

Such an impressive breed and culture in that Middle East.

Hopefully one day our Liberal Left here in America will realize just what the hell it is they try and defend daily

It was a shame that this happened. I honestly hope that the bastards who did this are bought to justice. Hopefully women's rights will be more respected when the revolution is over.

Also I saw this two days ago on Raw Story, you need to keep up with the news :tongue4:

Edit: BTW the tongue pic means I am just joking around.

You'd have to tell the Republican party first because they are the ones who put us there in the first place. It's been damage control ever since.

Let's play a game. It's called: we'll take one bad thing about a place or people, and then try to say the whole place is bad.

Absolutely disgusting as usual, Erod.

The list of examples of the leftists engaging in political romances with tyrants is long:
  • Noam Chomsky in Lebanon in May 2006 to embrace Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah

  • Academic Norman Finkelstein, a Jewish leftist, venerating Hamas and Hezbollah
  • Naomi Klein calling out in a column in The Nation for Muqtada al-Sadr's killing fields to come to New York
  • Tom Hayden reaching the next stage of his totalitarian high by meeting Klein's hero, al-Sadr, in London
  • British Member of Parliament George Galloway visiting Syria in November 2005, prostrating himself before its despot and giving a speech at Damascus University in which he denounced America and Israel and extended his support to every possible enemy of the United States – from the terrorists in Iraq to Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez.
  • Code Pink along with SDS founder Bernadine Dohrn supporting the Gaza Flotilla
  • Barack Obama inviting the Muslim Brotherhood to attend his Cairo visit and lending support to protestors in Egypt while he ignored those in Iran.

Why?

What the hell is a virginity test?

What the hell is a virginity test?
Determining if the hymen is intact or not.

The problem with such a “test” is that a hymen can tear for reasons other than copulation.

It should be noted that a positive virginity test is is not an indication of sexual activity.

There can be other thing that can cause a woman or even young girls to have a hymen that is no longer intact than having had sex.

That's why side-saddles were invented.

Odd statement regarding the subject. But ANYONE that does these "checks" needs to be punished harshly! And a Bat to the head isnt out of MY judgement. :2mad:
DISGUSTING!!!!

what became of the naive optimism that greeted the revolution in egypt just 2 months ago?

was it exhausted in yemen, bahrain, jordan, syria, saudi arabia?

or was it bombed to smithereens in benghazi?

either way, it's sad

maturity and sobriety are always such a downer when compared to the giddiness of youth

stay up

Hymens can be reconstructed too, if you have the money.

Don't know, but I would like to apply for the job.
Yeah, female abuse is always a good subject for a joke.....or are you saying you would like to run a rape room?

.

You ask them if they've ever played Dungeons and Dragons.

I am really confused then. I played D&D with a chick I was sleeping with (not at the same time).

Even though that would be funny. "I cast magic missile! unnnggghhhh"

You ask them if they've ever played Dungeons and Dragons.

In all seriousness, this joke is actually rather old - and untrue - unless the people I know who play D&D and are in real relationships - significant others play D&D too - are just figments of my imagination.... which if true, means there must be something really nasty in the air where I am.

It would be equally as undignified and "hacky" to counter this with a comparable list of "rightists" who have engaged with tyrants around the World but I think it is worth pointing out that it was some of those do-gooding lefties at Amnesty who brought this to the attention of the do-gooding leftists at the BBC who ran the story linked to in the OP.

One bad thing? LOL

Just about every real problem in the world is caused by this region and these miscreants. They're evolving at the pace of your average cockroach.

But you keep defending them. Perhaps you can help out with these virginity tests, and stone a few women in the streets for good measure.

I know your type. The middle east didn't even exist to you until your holy GOP leaders told you to care, and told you who the new enemies were. You probably couldn't even find Egypt on a map (and maybe you still can't).

But you keep defending them. Perhaps you can help out with these virginity tests, and stone a few women in the streets for good measure.

There are plenty of valid critiques of certain middle eastern countries and I am a proponent of many of them. That I don't see the world in black and white terms as you do is rather pleasing to me. You are a woefully misguided soul when it comes to politics, I'm afraid, and a tiresome little creature to boot.
