Adviser: Bachmann likely to enter WH race

I found it interesting that not a single one of Bachmann's statements on PolitiFact is more than "half-true".
Here's the link

For awhile all of her claims on politifact were either categorized as "false" or "pants on fire." Only after the SOTU response did she finally climb out of the gutter. Why the GOP would want a candidate who is so out of touch with reality, I have no idea.

I thought she did pretty awful in that debate... The best presentation she did was at the RNC, but she didn't take questions and it was a rehearsed speech with a teleprompter.

As I recall polls said at the time that she won that debate.

Perhaps less was expected of her because of her inexperience, and Biden had been in the Senate for a great many years and that might have made a difference, but you can watch it here for yourself.

Sarah Palin and Joe Biden Vice Presidential Debate – Full Video | HollywoodGrind

If the debate were to be held now I believe, given her greater experience, she would win easily.

Yes they are! But they are quite happy to call you names. :D

Name calling and attempts at ridicule makes up a great deal of their political debate, Marshabar, and is intended to replace any discussion of the issues, where they tend to be very weak.

Charles Krauthammer made the point last week or so that the Left believes the Right are evil and the Right believes the Left to be stupid. I think there is a great deal of truth in that.

a lot of namecalling, yes

also attempts to claim you're changing the subject if, for example, you bring up examples of obama's numerous inanities to counter charges against bachmann

a thread about how stupid is the minnesota tea drinker can naturally evolve to include mrs alaska, for instance

but NOT the president of the united states, he's untouchable

ie, NOT fair game

it's also common around here to have a LINK from the new york times kicked back with a comment like, "you're just parroting what you heard on beck"

LOL!

all of which just goes to show how desperately bereft these days is the pissed off posse

in other words, all the news is BAD

party on, peeps, seeya at the polls

And Sarah Palin never said "I can see Russia from my house." But it's funnier that way.

Quayle was absolutely useless, which is why he almost got replaced in '92....

Why do I even bother? The conservatives here will defend to the death anybody who writes an "R" after their name.

That's because the attacks from the Left tend to be personal, such as calling Sarah Palin "an idiot". She is far from being an idiot and every rational person knows that, so these unimaginative schoolyard taunts, in the past at least, have only discouraged debate. But now the right is beginning to strike back in similar terms.

They will now call Obama "an idiot" and the Left will respond with "racist".

Perhaps this low level clash is necessary in order for more people to realize how foolish it actually is and that the bar might be raised somewhat in order that more serious and direct issues can be discussed. These questions should involve the country and its future and not the team sport of party politics,

Straw men and irony in the same post. Very good.

Thanks.

But why not use some schoolyard taunts in the debate as well? That should solidify your position in Krauthammer's description of the Left.

While I wouldn't vote for Bachmann, she is vastly superior in experience and acumen to Barack Obama.

How does a congressman from Minnesota, who spent a far amount of time in the minority party (non-leadership) have "vastly superior experience" as a President than a guy who actually is the President and has had the job for four years?..... Conservatives make less and less sense all the time.

I'm sure others will point this out but until then we can measure BHO's experience from his time in the Illinois Senate (where was later caught in a lie during his time there, and where his usual response was "Present") to his time in the US Senate (where his usual response was "Present"). In fact Obama said that his experience at running a Presidential campaign qualified him to be President, notwithstanding that he never actually ran the campaign.

And of course he has not yet been President for four years, though you imply that through his time spent as President he now has more experience and could reasonably be expected to improve. But, sadly, we have yet seen a sign of any presidential qualifications and still no signs of improvement.

While the Left might have the audacity to Hope for some improvements in President Obama, there is yet no indication that he can possibly Change. All that is left are some fringe elements of the past hopes, but without the evidence or substance to support these feelings.

The growing fringe base loves her. So the GOP needs her to keep the Fring-ergy flowing.

Idiot is a term that most accurately describes her mental capacity in comparison to most people in national politics. The majority of left-leaning pundits don't use that word. No centrists ever use that word. They are generally much kinder.

So, by 'left' you must mean posters and bloggers. Yes, things get heated on the anonymous internet.

She is far from being an idiot and every rational person knows that,

She thought Africa was a country... All the 'tutoring' from handlers aren't going to help at this point.

I'll issue the same challenge -- find one speech, debate, interview, where she's speaking intelligently on specific economic issues or foreign policy -- and not just regurgitating empty talking points.

No, they will laugh in your face. But when you say "take our country back"... most people know you mean "from the black guy".

Most politicians and pundits are overly-kind to Sarah Palin. She is an example of the Peter Principle in politics. She was under qualified as mayor.

At 2012 draws near, some GOPers are finally coming out and saying that.

:lamo It was a hoax. Who needs a tutor?

Sarah Palin Africa Story a Hoax - Associated Content from Yahoo! - associatedcontent.com
It was among the juicier post-election recriminations: Fox News Channel quoted an unnamed McCain campaign figure as saying that Sarah Palin did not know that Africa was a continent.
Who would say such a thing? On Monday the answer popped up on a blog and popped out of the mouth of David Shuster, an MSNBC anchor. [/B]“Turns out it was Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, who has come forward today to identify himself as the source of the leaks,” Mr. Shuster said.Trouble is, Martin Eisenstadt doesn’t exist. His blog does, but it’s a put-on. The think tank where he is a senior fellow — the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy — is just a Web site. The TV clips of him on YouTube are fakes.
And the claim of credit for the Africa anecdote is just the latest ruse by Eisenstadt, who turns out to be a very elaborate hoax that has been going on for months. MSNBC, which quickly corrected the mistake, has plenty of company in being taken in by an Eisenstadt hoax, including The New Republic and The Los Angeles Times.
Now a pair of obscure filmmakers say they created Martin Eisenstadt to help them pitch a TV show based on the character. But under the circumstances, why should anyone believe a word they say?

Palin exceeded expectations, but Biden won

Debate poll says Biden won, Palin beat expectations - CNN

That's how I remember the coverage, but I think a few news sources were saying she won... Overall, it seemed like most news stations and journalists, not pundits, were saying Biden won. I personally didn't like the winking and cutesy crap... At one point she even told the moderator she wouldn't answer the questions the way she wanted... bad debate tactic IMO

The winking. You reminded me of it. It was very strange, I mean she was so silly and flip, and, God help us...flirty?!? A person is assuming a lot if he/she winks at you. It was very immature and unprofessional.

Also, someone said earlier in the thread that Palin would win that debate now, she's learned so much. But, they say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I think she would do even worse.

Yep, him and the liberals, but it has nothing to do with him being black. Who was he trying to take the country back from, the white guy?

'Taking Our Country Back' | The Weekly Standard

But Dean’s rhetoric outlived his candidacy. And in 2008, the candidate who wanted to “take our country back” was Barack Obama. He began his campaign in 2007 by saying, “Tomorrow, we begin a great journey. A journey to take our country back.” That February he told New Hampshire voters, “You have the power to take this country back.” That April he told students in an Iowa high school that ''Thousands of people across the country feel we are in this moment of time where we might be able to take our country back.'' Heck, that June Obama spoke at the lefty “Take Back America Forum,” telling attendees that “It's going to be because of you that we take our country back.”I could go on and on and on, but you probably get the idea.

“If you join me, we're going to take our country back.”
“We're gonna take our country back.”
“We want to make sure that everybody who wants to come and join in the party and join in the effort to take this country back.”
Yup. That was all Barack Obama doing his best to unite Purple America by ending the partisan Washington political culture.
Now that he’s president, Obama can’t really talk that way anymore. But it would be nice if the people on his side would remember that, once upon a time, he did.

Sure he said that? It sounds backwards........

Just listened to it and he said "dumb".

I think he has it right. We both know how the Left behaves and I can still get a kick out of their irrational statements. It was strongly hinted on these boards that I was a "Fascist" myself, as well as a McCarthyite, a Pinochet fan, and so on. You can see also that some still insist on calling Sarah Palin an "idiot" when their own intelligence is obviously open to question.

The Left will never recognize just how foolish they are because they simply don't get it. They'll still believe that $14 trillion debt is not a problem, that rioting n the streets will create wealth and solve government's expenditure problems, and so on. Although they are very bright in some areas, many areas in fact, they are just very, very dumb when it comes the handling of other people's money. Their beliefs are a matter of faith. Facts will never deter them.

Ok, I guess I get his point, still not sure I agree with it. Seems conservatives are called dumb more often than liberals are. However, they are called evil more often than liberals are too. Ahhha, Liberals are name callers.

Which active American politicians do you most admire, Hazlnut, and what sort of economic policies would you suggest the United States follow starting right now.

She thought Africa was a country...

Do you have a link to where she actually said this? Or are you relying on anonymous sources?

I'll issue the same challenge -- find one speech, debate, interview, where she's speaking intelligently on specific economic issues or foreign policy -- and not just regurgitating empty talking points.

Hazlnut, none of what she says will sound intelligent to you if you basically disagree with her.

But we do know she has had remarkable success in a number of areas and was highly respected as Governor of Alaska. This is seldom the case with "idiots".

I wonder how many postings in this thread actually have to do with Michelle Bachman....lol, She can try but won't get the nomination.
