Re: Breaking News: 'To my Dear Obama, our son', says Gaddafi, defending attack on reb
Absolutely, the U.S. could have just given logistical support, although I believe the European and Arab coalition could easily handle Libya without us. It's that I have this sneaky suspicion that the coalition wants us involved so that if the something goes wrong(like civilian casualties), well the coalition can was again blame the U.S. Anyway I am more apt to support Japan and help out in this great disaster that the Japanese are experiencing. I would rather see our resources be pointed in that direction. It would be better if we weren't involved and I do believe we could have done something different from joining a military coalition in this case. Must we be in every coalition? Europe uses Libyan oil, France is variously invested in Libya. Isn't it about time the U.S. stopped being the world's policeman? We could have given support in terms of supplies and ordnance and had nothing to do with the military aspect. I'm sure we would have eventually been dragged in anyway but it would have been good to set a different precedent.
