Only fools and wild eyed crazies would put themselves in harms way.

There have been 114 Cruise Missiles launched at 20 targets so that part os over and with about 5 missiles on each target those are toast.

If they want to die for a tyrant I say let them. I would not give a damn if they want to be really stupid.

The opposition claims that many of these human shields are children from orphanages and the families of soldiers. I doubt they want to be there.

It's hard to know who these people are.

They could be innocent civilians who are being coerced. Gads. What a mess.

One thing is certain: they're not combatants and can't be engaged.

Oh, the humanity!
Not to worry, Allah will sort the good bodies from the evil ones. ;)

No, no, no...killing non-combatants during military operations is a war crime and the perpetrators should stand trial for those crimes.

Hell at the very least its bad politics.

"Support" or die. You know how it goes. Generation after generation world without end.

At the very least it's illegal and UN forces need to follow the laws of war, to the letter.

They also need to detail an exit strategy and define success.

Is that even remotely possible in the Middle East? I guess the only thing that's ever worked is setting up another thug just like the last thug, hopefully one who'll leave Israel alone and keep the oil flowing. Gads is right. Can Middle East countries function any other way? Call them kings, call them colonels, they're all the same except Attaturk.

Not so quick. You know if we defeat Gaddafi they will name a hiway after Obama and all the people of Libya will love Americans.

Which part of "take all necessary measures" don't you understand?

Oh yeah, I forgot. . . And they'll put his face on a coin!

If that is true, then you need to show me the highway in Iraq that is named after Bush.

But...but...Libya's different.

Yup it is. If those civilians are choosing to become human shields, then they have, IMHO, joined the Libyan military, and are fair targets. But, if they were forced by Khadafi Duck to become human shields, then Khadafi needs a trial and execution. But that should be the Arab Nations' responsibility, and not ours. So, for me, just add another reason I don't like Obama. You see, you don't have to be a birther to dislike what Obama is doing. There are plenty of honest arguments against him.

Do you agree that civilians whom shelter terrorists in their home are equally legitimate targets?

I think we're going to see the, "you only create more terrorists", crowd treading on very confusing ground, here.

How are we going to determine if they volunteered to be human shields, or were forced to be human shields? Send some folks from Gallup and conduct a survey? :rofl

Where was all this speculation and understanding of what human shield are when we were fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, now we want to engage Libya. I say it none of our business and we should be minding our own business because apparently the world community only like us when it serves their purpose. We really should listen to our founding fathers about foreign entanglements.

I don't care, one way or the other, since my point is that the United States should not be going in there in the first place. The cynical side of me tells me that Obama joined in this mission to increase his own approval ratings.

Manic, I understood the only thing which had been authorised was protecting civilians. Before it got started I saw civilians in Tripoli muttering 'yes, but which civilians are you going to protect'. This is not an ordinary uprising. Libya seems split and while I am sure there are people in Tripoli against Gadaffi, people in Tripoli waiting on the fence about Gadaffi, there is no question that there are some people who fanatically like him. If the coalition has taken to mass killing civilians for any reason this is deeply concerning.

Earlier on I found this article at Al Jazeera

West overzealous on Libya - Opinion - Al Jazeera English
