    UN Backs Action Against Gaddafi

BBC News - Libya: UN backs action against Colonel Gaddafi

It could be just a matter of hours before British and French aircraft, along with an undefined Arab ally, could be attacking Gaddafi's air defences and ground forces. Does anyone think this is a bad idea?

Earlier reports suggested that if the resolution were passed, air attacks on Col Gaddafi's forces by the British and French air forces could begin within hours.

It is not thought that the US would be involved in the first strikes, but the British and French are likely to get logistical backup from Arab allies.

    Too little, too late.

About bloody time! I think this is a good idea, if the rebels win, then they'll be somewhat pro-western, and if Gaddafi wins, he'll be weakened from this anyway.

Russia and China - which often oppose the use of force against a sovereign country as they believe it sets a dangerous precedent - abstained rather than using their power of veto as permanent members.
good for them. although, it's a little like voting 'present'.

I fear you are right but with our help it could have a much better chance of making a huge difference in the final outcome.

I would target Gaddafi in the first wave of cruise missiles.

I can't wait to see what happens when a few civilians get zapped; and they will.

No, I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Western nations are banding together, and that's what I had hoped would happen. I just fear it's much too little, much too late.

Way too late. Many believed that action in Iraq would slowly lead to transformation in many ME nations - too bad we couldn't take advantage of it in this situation.
