Troops work without pay if Govt shuts down.

I hope they figure this out really soon. Both my husband and I are expecting military pay for this month. It would suck big time to not get such pay.

Maybe they will allow me to keep my GTCC active if they don't pay me or my husband by the first of April? I'm also wondering about our housing and medical and what they plan to set up if they don't get military personnel paid within a month. I know that going without pay for a month would be hard for us.

Navy Relief came through for me in 1995 when it happened.

I understand how you feel, but I wouldn't worry too much. I think you'll get paid.

I know it is available and will use it if needed (if they haven't figured out a better system).

One of the main issues I think will be that most military housing is now privatized so I am wondering if they will still expect to get rent from all those in housing if none of us are paid or if the military will set something up with housing to postpone it. I can't imagine NR having enough money available to pay thousands of military families' rents and more money for food and essentials. I am really just wondering. I'm sure things will work out but it's always good to know more.

Actually, it's funny because right now I am working in the SY on my AT so the workers there are mostly going to be put on furlough, so it may just be me and the few other military guys who work there and I really am not qualified/proficient to do anything as far as the SY is concerned without oversight from the civilian workers.

I'd be surprised if this is not covered in the contract with the civilian mgmt. I'm not in housing...I get to worry about paying mortgages.

Kinda par for the course for reservists. I imagine the expectation is not high on production during this time.

I'm not bothered at all.

There are various times in your militayr career when a paycheck might not be presented to you - pay **** ups happen all the time -very common when you get promoted or restationed and asigned, debted amounts (because of pay ****ups that overpay you) and so on - happen ALL THE TIME. The average military personnel has gone through it enough to know that it's not always solid or dependable and a lot of people I know (us included) have enough set aside to make up for it.

And if it did happen (eventhough I don't think it would) then it wouldn't last for long and when they fix it all up anyone who missed pay will get a back-pay.

Unlike everyone else out there who's employed through corporate so-n-so - there's actually a variety of simple legal legs to stand on in order to ensure you don't default on payments and so on when the occasional pay ****up happens - and that your credit score isn't affected, etc, everyone will get their payments - at some point - and in the meantime they can sit tight.

It's not just our troops there are millions who will suffer including all those on Social Security.

I have never cared a great deal for Donald Trump but I have seen him an TV talking about how to recover our economy and he makes sense and a half at a time when Obama is once again in over his head and the Democrats and republicans are all missing the boat and putting us at greater risk when we can least afford it.

Donald Trump is a smooth talking asshole - he drools **** down his chin.

He's had, what, 3 or 4 bankruptcies?

He's a perfect reflection of our government's policies - he can't fix the thing he believes works right: borrow, overspend, make the wrong decisions, go bankrupt - start all over again.

The only reason why anyone gives him the time of day is because they don't KNOW his financial LACK of knowhow and think "its' Donald Trump! He's so smart! He'll pay us back!"

Wanting Donal Trump to run our country is like wanting Jesus to be your bartender.

If governments worked that way, how many do you think we would have had?

Well, no one got him where he is, he did that himself.
