Quake moved Japan coast 8 feet; shifted Earth's axis

Not a stretch, when you consider that Japan hasn't yet apologized for her war crimes during WW2, nor even admitted that they did anything wrong. They still think they were doing the right thing. If the U.S. had done as much and an event such as this happened here, I doubt there would be very many people appalled by the notion.

I take it you and others have forgotten about the bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki, as well as the Japanese internment camps. I'd say those people have paid more than enough. The fact that you would even attempt to justify such idiotic statements speaks volumes about the type of person you are.

Japanese people in modern times have the capacity for introspection.

Not to mention, yourself.

What's that big dam in China... Yangtze? (SP) river, scientist also predicted it would have a detrimental effect on that region..started with Indonesia...yep I am being nutty.

Three Gorges

It would generally only have a localized effect rather then a large regional one

Taipei 101 has been according to some responsible for some earthquakes

Really? That's the best retort you can cook up? I bring up legitimate things that you obviously haven't considered in your justification of such disgusting statements and the best retort you can muster is "Nuh uh! You are!" You do bring up a good point, though. Why did I even bother to attempt to engage you, of all people, in a discussion when this has been your M.O. since you've been here?

Japanese WW2 vets have never apologized, nor admitted to any wrong doing during the war.

You're so... one dimensional.

You're deliberately trying to get a rise out of people bro. You enjoy it.

This is a difficult subject to think about. I just keep going to prayer. Can't even begin to imagine the suffering. It's cold in Japan now too. They must have felt so small in the teeth of a thing like this. And the aftershocks keep them from resting. Prayer.

See the field goal would have been good if you hadn't changed the position of the goal posts. At first it was "Japan hasn't apoligized" but when we show the government has, then it becomes "No I meant the vets, despite that I never mentioned vets when I first made this statement."

Lets see it again...

Google is an amazing thing. So I've got my money on a change to "No that was only a couple I meant all/most to apoligize!" But I think "NO I meant a senior commander, someone important not a foot soldier!" has a good chance of being the next change.

Lets see...

Except, I didn't justify anything.

I think you should just ignore me.

This thread is a good example of why we can't have nice things. If you folks cannot get on topic(hint: the topic is the quake) and stop attacking each other I will happily spend all day giving out infractions and thread bans.

Keep moving the goalposts back, keep getting destroyed:

Holy **** 8 feet. That is something that you see in one of those terrible Scify movies.

Yeah, I was watching footage on CNN last night, in terms of the tsunami itself it was totally something out of 2012 or day after tomorrow or something. I can't imagine how great the geological/geographical impact might be. 8 feet is just insane.

So...four people? Right?

It's really difficult for me to wrap my mind around the extent of destruction. Watching that footage makes my stomach ache, literally. My god, those poor people...

Jet and American - cut it out now.

Thank you. You know guys, people in Japan are dead, a lot of them. There are two reactors that have had explosions and other sites where they are addressing problems. Other countries in the region, including where some DP members live -- myself included -- are watching these reactors very closely. Local media in Taiwan has hinted at the possibility of radiation reaching Taiwan if there were a full out explosion (unlikely, of course, but something people in the region must take seriously.) And all you guys want to have is a pissing contest.. you guys make me sick...

They have apologized numerous times and they have admitted that it was wrong. It is only right wing nationalists nuts in Japan who believe they did nothing wrong...

EDIT: I visited a museum in Changchun, Jilin, China (known in World War II as Xinjing 'New Capital') of war crimes committed by the Japanese. Most of the people who were there at the time I was there were Japanese from a tour group. I spoke to some of them while I was there (I am conversant in Japanese) and YES they know about what happened, and YES they know it was wrong, and YES most Japanese have remorse for what happened. You need to get your head out into the open air and actually try to understand what is happening in the world and that a small number of radical ultranationalists do not represent the entire nation. I make frequent trips to Japan and know many Japanese resident here in Taiwan. They are good people who do not express the sentiments you attribute to them...

As ridiculous as all of the partisan bickering is here, there are actually people out there on Facebook as well as Twitter who have been posting that Japan somehow deserved this because of Pearl Harbor. I wish I was kidding.

Yes, because people living in Japan now are somehow responsible for what their ancestors did sixty+ years ago... ****in morons.

So we should just forgive the Japanese, the way we forgave the Nazis? oh, wait.
