    UGH.

Looks like the #1 reactor is going to be a serious problem.

Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said the earth's axis shifted 25 cm as a result of the earthquake, and the U.S. Geological Survey said the main island of Japan had shifted 2.4 meters.
Opps... time to update your maps and GPS devices...

Seriously, Honshu moved 2.4 meters!!! What would happen to the earth's axis if the earthquake was stronger??? perhaps one day we will have a superearthquake that will just send the earth tipping off its axis...

dang... I think a Martika song is in order.... "I feel the earth move, under my feet."

Holy crap. You invoked Martika....this is indeed serious.

Seriously, it is crazy that Honshu moved like that.

The tsunami is predicted to have a wave 1m (3ft) high. Those in the warning zone should move to high ground, Japanese TV said. BBC
Today's quake was 118km (78 miles) north of Fukushima, 40km offshore in the Honshu area.

Magnitude 7.4 earthquake hits off Japan coast - Hurriyet Daily News and Economic Review

My thoughts are with the brave and wonderful people of Japan. What is happening there is a tragic reminder of the dangers of Earthquakes and the importance of being prepared to deal with them as a nation. Out of compassion to fellow Human beings, i hope the international community pull together in this time of loss and destruction and do all that is possible to assist them.
