I guess we'll have to give Obama some credit for the US getting that coolant delivered to Japan.

What a terrible thing. I have a few friends who have family over there and we are still waiting to hear from some of them. I am at a bar right now watching about it. Does anyone know of a site to help donate money?

No, but stayed tuned. I'm sure there will be a dial-in donation line soon.

I found this website Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund - GlobalGiving or you can text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10. Honestly the website sounds like a safer route, but those are the two options I found so far.

edit: This website has 5 different ways you can help. Two of them are ones that I have already mentioned, but there are three others that you can use. Five Ways You Can Help Earthquake and Tsunami Victims in Japan - TIME NewsFeed

It is horrible and I hope we can help.

For those worried about March 19th, the perigee, read up on the Harmonic Convergence that had all the New Agers with their knickers in a twist. Me, I'm old enough to remember and giggle.

Unbelievably tragic for the people of Japan. Some of the film I've seen is horrific.

California has had two harbors badly damaged by tsunami surges, which are still continuing. Santa Cruz, where several mooring piers were ripped away, dozens of boats swamped, smashed or damaged... and Crescent City, where several people are dead and photos show massive fishing boats thrown onto dry land; apparently the entire Crescent City harbor has been destroyed.

Tsunamis are still expected to hit Central and South America this afternoon.

According to the news, this 8.9 quake is the fifth largest in recorded history.

Don't worry, there'll be websites scamming money up-n-running in no time.
