Why is it that whenever public opinion is shown to be against a personal opinion of someone, they find some way of arbitrarily dismissing it?

Just had a thought. If ALL of them are recalled, wouldn't they then have to send Arnold Schwarzenegger to Mars?

Here's hoping the majority of Citizens will see that what Scott Walker did was for the good of the State.

    Recall them.... or kill them.

Capitol Chaos: Lawmakers Get Death Threats | Newsradio 620 - Milwaukee, Wisconsin News, Talk, Sports, Weather | Local Headlines

This is from an email sent to Wisconsin legislators showing how tolerant and serious they are about adopting a tone of civility in these political times.

Please put your things in order because you will be killed and your familes
will also be killed due to your actions in the last 8 weeks.
    Please explain
to them that this is because if we get rid of you and your families then it
will save the rights of 300,000 people and also be able to close the deficit
that you have created. I hope you have a good time in hell. Read below for
more information on possible scenarios in which you will die.

WE want to make this perfectly clear. Because of your actions today and in
the past couple of weeks I and the group of people that are working with me
have decided that we've had enough. We feel that you and the people that
support the dictator have to die.
We have tried many other ways of dealing
with your corruption but you have taken things too far and we will not stand
for it any longer. So, this is how it's going to happen: I as well as many
others know where you and your family live, it's a matter of public records.
We have all planned to assult you by arriving at your house and putting a
nice little bullet in your head.
However, we decided that we wouldn't leave
it there. We also have decided that this may not be enough to send the
message to you since you are so "high" on Koch and have decided that you are
now going to single handedly make this a dictatorship instead of a
demorcratic process. So we have also built several bombs that we have placed
in various locations around the areas in which we know that you frequent.
It'll be interesting to see who this person is when they catch them, and who they supposedly represent or it's just again, some lone nut. Nothing nationally about this is leaking out though.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

You act as if death threats to lawmakers are something new or confined to one particular group.

No, I act as if death threats are now so common that they're ignored.

as they should be. if someone makes such a threat, it should be handed off to law enforcement and otherwise ignored.

No matter who makes them? Can I quote you on that and bookmark it for future reference?

And I'll disagree... I think death threats have to be publicized just like the NY Times publicized them and hundreds of other media outlets ran that same story, to show how intolerance is not something to be hidden away in a back room and ignored, but must be put out into the light where the public can see it and rightly, rebuke it. It's not acceptable no matter who does it, which means these incidents must gain public view.

I do agree this is a job for the police and the FBI to find the people responsible so they can have their day in court.

Meanwhile, Recall drives are currently taking place against 16 state Senators, in what appears to be the largest recall frenzy, on a state level, in American history. Both, Democratic and Republican activists, are taking part in the efforts. 8 of the targets are Republicans, and 8 are Democrats. The Republican Senators are those who support Walker, the the Democrats being targeted are among those who walked out. So, in a sense, you can say that the recall petition drives are a bi-partisan effort being carried out by partisans...... huh?

The bar for conducting a recall in Wisconsin is high. The petitioners have only 60 days to obtain 25% of the total number of votes cast in the last gubernatorial race in each particular district where a recall is being attempted. After only a couple of days, 25% of the required number have been collected against one Republican, and 20% against another Republican. No numbers have been posted yet for the other Republicans, or for the Democrats, but the Democratic party is claiming that they have already reached 15% of their total goal, and say that efforts against all 8 of the Republicans being challenged are going to be successful.

Which brings me to the moral of this story. If you are elected, do what the people put you into office to do. If you overstep your authority, it is at your own peril. Walker had a mandate for fiscal responsibility, which I totally agree with. However, with the help of the infamous Koch Brothers, he turned that into waging a war on the collective bargaining rights of state employees, something that Wisconsin's population is overwhelmingly against. His transparent lies that busting the unions in Wisconsin was really about addressing the debt didn't fly with Wisconsinites either, who saw through his deception. He is now going to pay the ultimate political price, which will be the death of his political career. He can't blame the voters for that. He can only blame himself, and his radical agenda.

    Article is here.

This is a pathetic liberal democrat tantrum. Waa evil repubwicans got wid of our unions we gonna make you pay.Waaaaaa! And if that don't work I am going to lay down on the ground and kick and scream waaa!!!
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

The same way they always do with recall petitions.

California did it, this should be a no-brainer for WI.
