As both houses of Congress stood poised in 2010 to sign into law a massive health care bill that few members had read, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously observed, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

The American people, who then as now disapproved of the plan by a double-digit margin, can’t say they weren’t warned.

Few, however, were prepared for the extent of the deception embodied in the bill, which Democrats brokered behind closed doors and to the exclusion of members of the opposing party. That became apparent on Sunday, when Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-MN, dropped a bombshell on NBC’s Meet the Press, revealing that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act contains over $105 billion in health care appropriations.

Tell me...

How come she's the only one who's found it?

And how is it there's no actual proof of this number in the article?

Next she'll be accusing the President of spending 200 million dollars a day... WHOOPS! :doh

Bachman is an idiot. Everyone knows that. Anything she says is worthless.

You understand little and as usual just give a kneejerk reaction....Research and come on back.

j-mac

That's so funny! Would anyone but a knee-jerk reactionary take Bachman seriously if she said it was raining?

Soooo where are the others that found it and the proof?

Or are they all too afraid of Obama's Gestapo to speak out :coffeepap

Given your original post this might be the most ironic post on debate politics.

Forgive me if I consider a blogger from hotair.com and Bachmann as not the most reliable of sources. I don't trust media matters at their word and the same goes for this tripe. Find a decent source if you want to be taken serious. If not then pull up drudge and feel free to gawk at the over sensationalized headlines all day long. i don't care either way.:)

To the libs in here thinking they are funny or something....This is serious business, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid hid appropriations in this law that are illegal, and bypass the legal channels to fund their crap plan. So instead of the usual attacking of the person telling us about what is to be discussed ie: Bachmann can you snarky little libs talk about the 105 billion, you know the actual topic of the thread?

How about the CRS, is that good enough?

In a shocking new report by C. Stephen Redhead from the Congressional Research Service it has been revealed that within the Health Care Reform legislation recently passed by Congress there exists over $105 Billion in appropriations to fund the legislation.

Documented: $105 Billion Hidden Appropriations in Health Care Law

Ain't that nice....

Snarky little libs? Are you upset just because the libs in this thread aren't dumb enough to consider Bachmann as a very reliable source?

Bachmann has made a claim that as far as that article goes, can't prove it.

If you can please prove it then we'll have that discussion, but Bachmann often makes out landish claims j-mac.

200 million dollars a day.

OMG! I feel like the posts are in time delay or something....How about the CRS will you accept their word or are they just hacks too?

Do you think the $105 Billion is in there?

No Secret: Bachmann Gets It Wrong | FactCheck.org

Again, don't expect anyone to act surprised that the healthcare bill spent money on healthcare. The money wasn't hidden in the bill and was evaluated by the CBO and in your link nowhere does the CRS call the money hidden. Bachmann is just so ****ing stupid that it takes her this long to catch on to **** that is plainly obvious to most. The bill funded itself and was passed through congress as all bills are.

This is pathetic that I should even have to explain this crap.

Yes, snarky little libs....You know the type don't you? The ones that think that one liners and ad hominem attacks against the messenger, or poster are the way to win any argument rather than actually have an honest discussion about the topic?

PolitiFact | Michele Bachmann charges health care bill spent $105 billion 'secretly'

We poked around the versions of the health care law that were up for consideration and found older versions that included both appropriations and fund transfers, some of which made it to the final bill. The CRS report Bachmann cited may have compiled the appropriated funding information into an easy-to-understand format, but it’s not as if the spending was approved secretly.

Steve Ellis of the nonpartisan Taxpayers for Common Sense said it was no secret: the Congressional Budget Office -- Congress’ nonpartisan budget-analysis agency -- extensively detailed the spending in the bill.

"I’m not saying that everybody knew everything that was in the health care bill, because it’s almost impossible to do that. But it was documented that the money was in there," Ellis said. "Shame on them if they didn’t know that."

Facts are not something Bachmann is acquainted with.

Ah Obama's buddies to the rescue again eh? Now it's my turn to ask you to find a reputable source.

j-mac

Yes. It's in there. Now, why should we be upset that congress actually funded a bill that they passed? Do you honestly think this money was purposefully hidden in the bill?

you seem very hostile lately. can bachmann prove her assertions? your source seems just a tad biased, btw.

You're damned right it was hidden. This is BS. And unAmerican, the way this was crammed down America's throat.

j-mac
You still haven't given a source saying that the money was hidden. The CRS didn't say the money was hidden, just that it was in the bill. That's exactly what fact check said. Were not disagreeing with eachother unless you actually think that Dems slipped this spending into the bill right before it was passed and didn't let anyone know about it, which is hard to imagine considering that the CBO scored the bill with these expenses in it.

Ah politifact....The St. Pete times that was looked at for this and concluded that their editorial desk was Waaaaaaaay too involved with the supposed Fact Check to be honest....Again. Biased.

j-mac

funny........bachmann must be blind.........others "found" those appropriations.
