Excerpted from “Fox News pulls Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum off the air because of their interest in running for president; Fox News suspends the contracts of political contributors Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum because both have demonstrated that they are seriously considering running for president. A Fox News official says the channel will take the same action against Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin if they get closer to jumping into the race.” By Matea Gold, Washington Bureau, The Los Angeles Times, March 2, 2011, 9:30 a.m.
Fox News announced Wednesday that it is suspending the contracts of political contributors Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum because both have demonstrated that they are seriously considering running for president.

Dianne Brandi, the network's executive vice president of legal and business affairs, said in an interview that the channel made the move because Gingrich aides told Fox News executives that the former House speaker is stepping up his exploration of a presidential bid. …

Two down …

Maybe because there's no one who can take those two as serious contenders …

What I'd like to know is how can Fox News be considered a credible news agency when it's very likely that most, if not all, of the serious Republican candidates next year will have at one time been on their pay role? How can they possibly be fair and balanced?

Point of the night right there, my friend.

Did you read the OP???

How could they be any closer? They've pretty much all said the same thing:

"Maybe but we are not saying anything yet".

Though I admit I skimmed the OP since I've heard this story 50,000 times today (and no one can explain why Palin and Huckabee are still on the payroll then).

I'd say it pretty much confirms what many already know -- that is Fox News is nothing more than a tool for the rightwing. It's not fair and balanced and it's not a real news agency (though it purports to be one).

Even worse, what they're doing is providing cover for the GOP. People like Sarah Palin can remain under their protection since Fox's employees are not allowed to appear on other networks without the network's expressed written consent. That's how weak candidates like Palin can avoid giving interviews on real news networks where they face scrutinization, if they so choose, while blaming Fox for not allowing it; giving the false illusion that they would like to appear on those networks, but can't.

Didn't Obama work and train people in ACORN? Seeing he worked for them does that make acorn, a partisan organization then …. and seeing it must because he once worked for them, they are disallowed from receiving any federal money correct ?

Palin and Huckabee both seem a lot more likely to run for president than Rick Santorum. Didn't he lose his Senate reelection bid by like 20 points? It seems weird to take him off the air for expressing a serious intent to run for president, but not Palin or Huckabee.

If that is in comparison to the other posting, that might be true if he wasn't hired by ACORN as a legal consultant and if there were at least 3 others from ACORN running at the same time. Otherwise, it would be a complete non sequitur.

oh I see, so has has nothing to do with one running .. only if more then one run .. got it ..

I don't understand why they just don't say they are running... it looks pretty obvious, and you know they can raise the funds.

The question:

Does this mean Palin and Huckabee aren't running? If not, then why aren't they pulled as well?

Her numbers are dropping, so doesn't really have a chance... It might be a waste of time and money at this point, but it doesn't look good for her at all now.

I used to think she'd run for sure, but now I think she might not... and if she does, she'll probably drop out soon. That's my prediction. :)

I personally don't think she ever intended on running, she is good for rallying the base, but has trouble with the independent vote. Her value is running around the country, keeping the base fired up, and getting them out to vote.

Fox puts people on the air that draw an audience and have something to say, unlike all the other news channels that are not doings as well.

Sarah Palin has been smart enough to remain uncommitted, I personally think she can do more by not running, but then I don't see a candidate I'm excited about.

What I know is we need to dump Obama on the trash heap of History

Huckabee stated on O'Reilly he isnt giving up his contract with fox until it runs out. If he has plans to run for president it will be in the summer, if its too late by then..its too late. Sarah Palin has only said she would run if she believed they needed her to run.

What was it Palin called herself back in 2008? A pitbull with lipstick? Looks like that dog is all lipstick and no teeth less than 3 years later. Or as they say back in California: all show, no action.

She actually called hockey moms a pitbull with lipstick. And as stated before..she really doesnt need to run for president. She has a huge influence without that role.

Isn't she a hockey mom? You're playing semantics. What I see right now is a right wing that is willing to have Palin talk **** as long as she isn't in a possition of power. Seems like they're not so sure about the reality TV star's ability to actually beat Obama. All talk, no action.

I would love for her to run. But it she doesnt have to. It makes no difference to me. There are plenty of candidates I am confident about who is just as capable of running. Also ...if palin doesnt run..I guarantee she is part of the government somehow.

Haha. I think the only thing that would redeem any defeat of Obama would be putting Palin within any distance of the White House. That woman is on par with Biden as far as gaffs go.

Now imagine how much credibility you would award ACORN if they became a news agency.

Who is gonna run against Obama for the Dem's in 2012? What a silly commentary.
