Two U.S. Soldiers Reportedly Killed in Shooting at Germany's Frankfurt Airport

So this isn't terroism? It's a legitimate act of war?
Without knowing many details, it's hard to say. What makes an attack a terrorist attack is not the act itself, it's the intent of the act. Terrorism is about committing a heinous crime with the intent of altering policy, typically political policy. The news is reporting that he was inspired after perusing radical Islamic websites. Sounds more like hate-fomented anger to draw in lackey's to participate in the Middle East's ongoing war with the West.

I hope the families of the two soldiers can grieve and find some peace and support in the love of their friends and family, but I hope that too for the families of the Afghan boys who were killed by NATO helicopters for doing nothing more aggressive than collecting firewood.

Most of us grieve for the families of the US soldiers and especially the innocent Afghan children. What separates the two events is intent.

The jihadi in Germany acted deliberately and intended to kill US soldiers.

In Afghanistan, the US did not deliberately attack innocent children.

I don't believe much in the 'news' right now about who he is and why he did it. We will have to wait and see who this guy turns out to be.

This latest war is between Islamic jihadis and everyone else who doesn't practice their form of religion. It's not between the ME and the West in general.

Jihadis target innocent civilians all over the world. Including other Muslims.

BTW, if you're the same Sheik from AWE I'm glad to see you here.

I'm sorry for posting that, and please don't read it as my attitude to these horrid shootings. I really regret those deaths, but am getting very frustrated at double standards operating here.
Whatever.

Fair enough, it's radical Islam against the world. Still, I see that as an act of their ongoing war and not an act of terrorism.

Likewise. Not sure how long I'm going to last though. I miss the craziness that permeated AWE. That was its charm and it's not tolerated here.

So, therefore, justified?

I tried posting there, you and I have very different ideas of "charm".

Well there is a degree of mitigation on both sides, no? The soldiers killed in Germany, if you accept that there is a state of war existing between radical Islam and the West, were legitimate targets, were they not? It doesn't make their deaths any less regrettable, nor does the fact that the Afghan boys were killed deliberately, but in error, make their deaths any less regrettable.

What is totally regrettable is this state of war, and I'm not seeing anyone on either side trying to resolve it. Quite the opposite, in fact.

I agree it can be reasonably described as an act of war. However, since one of their methods of fighing this war is by means of terrorism, I also believe what happened in Germany can also be reasonably described as an act of terrorism. But it's still way too early to form a solid opinion about this one incident IMO.

This site is quite different than AWE and I do miss some of the banter. Didn't you think AWE was becoming a bit of a train wreck? The level of prejudice against other posters race and religion was getting out of hand. I had over 40 people on my ignore list.

It would only be a non sequitur if the two events were entirely unrelated. They are not, so it is not.

They are not. You just want to make the argument that the boys' death justifies the shooting in Germany. It's fine if you believe that, just don't expect me to then believe your claims of how "regrettable" (what a ****ing tepid sentiment anyway) you find the deaths of the airmen if you believe it was justified in the first place.

You can say what you like here, just not everywhere. I'm guessing you guys haven't been to the Basement yet.

Trust me, even the Basement would not tolerate the kinds of things said at AWE. There was a lot of anti-Semitism there.

If he was acting as a jihadi actively engaged in their latest war then I would agree this could definitely be described as an act of war.

We are not talking about regret. We are talking about intent.

Islamic jihadis are deliberately and intentionally targeting innocent children.

And I do see people on both sides trying to end this latest jihadi killing spree. There are Muslims who have spoken out against it and there are free nations around the world willing to sacrifice their blood and treasure to fight and defeat them.

No, I haven't. I kind of like the 'air' of this site. A much higher caliber of average poster here than at AWE.

Not just anti-Semitic. Race, religion, national origin or what someone looked like was fair game for personal attacks at AWE.

I had so many people on my ignore list it made me ask myself if I should stay there or not.

Horrible news. Just awful.

And to think their families have the WBC to look forward to as well. You know Satan's little buddies won't miss these funerals.

Well and when you challenged those goofballs, they'd never respond. Welcome Ron, I think you'll like it here. :)

They either ran away or spewed more vicious rants.

I do like it here. Thanks for the welcome.

He didn’t have to work with any terrorist group. He just need to be a devout muslim. He just have to follow the teaching of islam. The motive is none other than islam, i.e. doing the bidding of allah and its false prophet mohammed. All good muslims are commanded by mohammed to fight for the cause of allah. Read the quran. It’s mentioned repeatedly in the quran. What is the cause of allah? To kill and desroy the infildels. It’s been that way since the advent of islam from the 7th century of backward desert arabia.

The devout muslims kill us simply because we are infidels whom their allah hated. Their allah called us the worst of beasts that deserved to be beheaded wherever they find us. Read their quran and ahadith.

The talks about their killing us because we unintentionally killed their women and children during the war against terror as a result of 911 are hogwash! If that’s true, why don’t you see jihadis scramming to go to Libya like they did in Iraq or Afghanistan when ghadaffi intentionally ordered his troops to gun down innocent civilian men, women and children, his own people? Where have you heard any public outcry from any muslims in the world in condemning the bloody violence against unarmed muslims in Libya or Bahrain and other parts of M.E? Why?

Because the murderous perpetrators are not infidels. If they are muslims, their brutal killings of other innocent muslims by the millions are tolerable no matter how unreasonable or barbaric the violence. Cases in point, sadam husseins’ chemical warfares against innocent muslim civilians of his own people in the Kurdish town of Halabja in Iraqi Kurdistan and the 1980 to 1988 Iraq-Iran war.

But, if you are infidels you can’t even defend yourselves by fighting back when attacked by their fanatical muslims bending on destroying you. If you do and unintentionally killed their muslim civilians when trying to pursue the islamic criminals hiding amidst the civilians with or without civilian assist to attack you, then it is their collective justifiable islamic revenge forever. They hated us simply for being infidels, more so when we defend ourselves, no matter whether we pour in billions of dollars to rebuild their nations and bring civility and democracy to their people. Their brains are twisted so tight by the teaching of isalm that they can't be reasoned.

Not until the West understand the true nature of islam without the pc about “islam is a religion of peace” and do away with this bloody evil cult, the world is going to be on fire and bloodshed for years to come. It will get worst as we invite them to come and stay in our midst.

You don't know a lot of Muslims do you? Devoutness of a Muslim has literally no correlation with their propensity to commit violence. Most attempts at explaining a complex phenomenon by pointing to a single cause are usually gross simplifications of the complexity that is reality. Nice try though.

You think I'm trying to justify the soldiers being shot in Germany? That takes selective reading to an all-time nadir. I was making the point that these awful (did you get that? AWFUL) events are simply not going to stop while the Islamists are exporting their guerilla tactics and while the West is pursuing aimless, even if well-meaning, and endless foreign campaigns with no endgame in sight and showing no willingness to engage in dialogue with the enemy.

Neither side appears to want to resolve this pointless "Clash of Civilisations" and until they do, wood-collecting boys in Afghanistan and soldiers the world over will continue to die shabby, heart-breaking and needless deaths.

How's the air up there on your lofty moral high ground?

Killed, in cold blood. It is outrageous. If the authorities 'accidentally' slip a taser up that guys asshole i wont loose sleep over it.

Awww, look at the moral equivilism! Isn't it cute children?

All the rhetorical subtlety of the schoolyard. Why don't you read the entire thread before demonstrating your hackery. Posts 32 and 47 should suffice.
