President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the likelihood that Ho Chi Minh would win a national election in Vietnam in 1955

Source: Dwight D. Eisenhower, Mandate for Change, 1953-56 (Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Compnay, Inc., 1963), p. 372

I am convinced that the French could not win the war because the internal political situation in Vietnam, weak and confused, badly weakened their military position. I have never talked or corresponded with a person knowledgeable in Indochinese affairs who did not agree that had elections been held as of the time of the fighting, possibly 80 per cent of the population would have voted for the Communist Ho Chi Minh as their leader rather than Chief of State Bao Dai. Indeed, the lack of leadership and drive on the part of Bao Dai was a factor in the feeling prevalent among Vietnamese that they had nothing to fight for. As one Frenchman said to me, "What Vietnam needs is another Syngman Rhee, regardless of all the difficulties the presence of such a personality would entail."

That's why drilling goes up when profits go up.
You're catching on. Can you understand the correlation between the two?

WASHINGTON — Nearly three-fourths of the 40 million acres of public land currently leased for oil and gas development in the continental United States outside Alaska isn’t producing any oil or gas, federal records show, even as the Bush administration pushes to open more environmentally sensitive public lands for oil and gas development.

An Associated Press computer analysis of Bureau of Land Management records found that 80 percent of federal lands leased for oil and gas production in Wyoming are producing no oil or gas. Neither are 83 percent of the leased acres in Montana, 77 percent in Utah, 71 percent in Colorado, 36 percent in New Mexico and 99 percent in Nevada.

Thats just public land. There are millions more acres of private land that could be developed.
For one, New Mexico has a drilling moratorium in effect. Two, teh government has to issue drilling permits for that land to be drilled. There's also a minimum acerage per rig and it varies from region to region. Care to show us how many drilling permits have been issued and what the acerage requirements are in this areas?

The Gulf moratorium has been lifted. After BP do you really think it should have been business as usual? There are many places they can drill if they wanted to or had the resources to do so. Pretty much all new rigs under construction are spoken for.

Those around Quadafi would not be innocent civilians. The CIA are experts at assassination and could minimize colateral damage.

Now you are an expert on predator strikes? You are an expert on everything, aren't you?

The apsirin factory was the target

Idiotic US intelligence mistook the chemical residue of degrading glyphosate as chemicals used for producing chemical weapons.

Never ever trust US intelligence, it is full of government paid morons
