Hmm, so Brit PM David Cameron was all for the no fly zone but the French and Americans are putting him back in his place with the cautious approach. Somewhat reminiscent of Kosovo, where Blair was trying to convince the Euros and Americans to take the interventionist route. I wonder if he convinces Obama will he be viewed as an American poodle as Blair was several years after the fact?

Where on earth do you people come from? I become more and more sure that this country of ours is doomed, because business sense sure seems to be fading.

Two things are driving up the price the oil, with the unrest in Libya which just happens to produce 47% of oil that comes from Africa, many are worried that should anything happen to those wells it would cause a shortage . why you think that because they ship most of their gas and oil it to Italy. That if their wells were shut down, that Italy would just do without? Or might they be buying from someplace else?

Next, with India, and China increasing their demand for oil, that means demand for oil is up, and thus far, production hasn't exceeded demand, you are familiar with supply and demand aren't you ?

Now on to those greedy corporations, have you ever sat down and figured out anything? Let Me help out of each barrel of oil, we get about 20 gallons of gas, and 10 gallons of diesel with prices now at or near 100 dollars a barrel, that puts material costs alone at about $3.33 a gal, add to that you have refining costs, storage costs, and costs to ship these products to retail outlets. Then the retail outlets have to make something on the sale of gas.

Now add to that the 18 cents per gal federal tax, plus an average of of about 25 cents per gal at the state level. Yet the average price of gas right now in the US is about $3.45... somehow I fail to see the greed of those evil corporations.

Yeah, the money wasn't great, but it wasn't really about the money. It was about wanderlust, adventure, and a bit of an escape, and for that, the Legion was second to none. PMC, though, that's interesting. Which company? Where'd you go? And how was the pay, hehe?

As far as company? I dont even mention the name due to not wanting to release too much personal info, but they are still the largest contractor to the us government today.

Pay? Nothing like it is today but it was good for a young single male..... I'd clear about 60 a year tax free...

Many of the oil wells are safe, in the hands of the opposition, and apparently are ready to ship oil out... to China...

Haven't you noticed that the liberal news network (CNN) is already officially recognizing the opposition government???

If Italy would simply do without the lost oil from Libya, one might be able to make that case (especially if expectations were irrelevant). However, because Italy will seek to buy oil from the elsewhere in the world market, the loss of Libya's production has an impact on overall prices. In effect, the worldwide supply of oil has temporarily fallen relative to worldwide demand. As a result, the price of oil has increased.

Hehe, that's pretty good. I think the Legion's off-duty pay is like 11,000 Euros per year now. Which is actually alright considering the situation, where room and board is Legion-financed, and the only time you have to spend it is off-duty. But it's still no 60K.

    Where'd ya go? Anywhere interesting?

Mainly the balkans where i learned a particular disgust for the un and its "peacekeepers". I was declared "persona non gratis" on at least one occassion for taking exception to thier proclivity for Underage brothels. I remained per contract.
