And they don't have the status quo now. Saying the democrats should roll over and let the republicans do what they want because 'it's the will of the American people' is just an excuse, and a fairly lame one at that. It's not like a huge majority of the American populace supports the republican agenda over the democratic agenda. The country is, and always has been, split roughly 50-50 along party lines. We now have a congress that actually represents that.
Were you sleeping during the midterms? It's the biggest rollover of power in this country in 60+ years. It's a fact, that the people have spoken and they didn't say, "oh yeah, just keep going hog-wild like you have been for the past few years".

And yet, in all of the seats that the republicans won, a significant portion of the people in those states voted democrat as well. 30-49% in most cases. I stand by what I said. While the republicans might have won a lot of seats in the election, the overall political makeup of the country is split pretty evenly.

The 2010 election did not put the republicans solely in power. There is a split congress, and the other party still holds the presidency. They can't (and shouldn't) behave like the democrats should roll over and obey all of their demands. Both parties need to compromise.

You should stop pretending like everyone in the country supports that ideology. It makes you look ignorant.

But i don't think they will. If Republicans hold to cutting spending, I think they win this fight.
That doesn't even make sense to me... All of the reports I have read, it's the GOP who appears to support a government shutdown, not the dems.

The GOP is acting just like the liberals did after the 2008 elections... we won, we get what we want and the GOP cried "they are cramming it down our throats. Unfair! Unfair!"

The country doesn't belong to either party or one type of person... and IMO the government shouldn't even have the power to shutdown and make everybody suffer so some partisans can pass some bill. What if Obama shut down the government in order to pass health care, or Bush did it because privatizing Social Security was going his way?

My view is that a party has as much power and mandate as they have bodies elected. However, the ONLY reason for that is the numbers, not any sort of moral force behind it. I didn't like it when Bush or Obama claimed a mandate and I don't really care for those who claim a mandate now, because it is only a talking point when the only thing that matters is numbers.

.....less than 20% of America voted for The Kenyan Tyrant.......where has this concern been for the last 2 years?

I was initially confused by who the Kenyan Tyrant was you keep complaining about.... so only 20% of the people voted for him and 80% for Mccain? How did that work.. voter fraud and ACORN?

On Nov. 2, 2010--The Largest Political Ass Whooping in history........The overwhelming majority of the American people decided to give control of the House of Representatives to the Republicans.........specifically Republicans that ran on cutting government spending.

Spending bills originate in the house.......deal with it......
