GOP threatening to shut down government, but say it will be Dems fault

If the government is shutdown, will the GOP get their demands?

Of course it's the Democrats' fault - everything Republicans do is the fault of someone else. They'd kick an old woman down the stairs and say "Oh, now look what you made me do! You scuffed my shoes!"

You LIKE the American people... except the one's who want to build and worship in Mosques it seems...

me?

LOL!

i love my muslim students, i've had hundreds

and their families

absolutely golden people, studious, decent, unselfish, warm, quick to laugh...

i can hardly think of an exception

i have no problem with mosques

it was seventy one percent of NEW YORKERS who objected, remember?

Most New Yorkers Want "Ground Zero Mosque" Moved, Poll Shows - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

obama sure was dumb to intrude himself into that one

no wonder he dropped it and ran away

Not you personally... but the party in general.. and I did watch Hannity and Beck during those debates. They didn't portray the Muslims at that Mosque positively or have an honest debate or respectful dialogue.. They tried to link them to terrorists and extremism every chance they could. Newt went off the deep end with Nazi comparisons, and Palin begged them to not exercise their constitutional rights...

Why because of location? If you're Muslim and in NYC you're radical and out of line if you want to worship, but if you're Muslim and not in NYC you're ok? I'll try to remember that rule next time I am in NYC... and I went to the 9/11 museum the last time, and it upset me and I cried from the mess of ground zero and how it is still in shambles, but they are still trying to create a memorial in a rinky dink shop. I saw the pictures of the future site...

... but the Muslims aren't worthy of a Mosque/Community Center to serve as an outreach to the area. Slap in the face from the GOP.

And it doesn't matter if you have Muslim students and praise them... you still didn't support equality and equal rights for Muslim people.

well. if Republicans pass a bill to fund the Government.... and Democrats choose instead to let it die in the Senate or veto it from the White House....

.... then yeah... that was sort of "their fault".

Well, the GOP has passed a two-week CR. Reid says the Senate will pass it, but he can't guarantee that all Dems will vote for it, but certainly enough will vote with the GOP. That then puts the ball in the president's court...

National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
Conducted February 24-25, 2011
By Rasmussen Reports

1* How closely have you followed recent news reports about the federal budget debate in Congress?

2* Will the spending cuts proposed by Congressional Republicans significantly reduce federal spending and deficits or will they have little impact on overall levels of spending and deficits?

3* Congress never passed a budget for 2011, but authorized spending for a few months. That authorization will expire soon and Congress must act quickly or some federal government services could be shut down. As Congress authorizes spending for the rest of 2011, should they authorize spending at the same levels as last year, authorize less spending than last year, or authorize more spending than last year?

4* If Democrats and Republicans fail to reach a budget agreement soon, there will be a partial shutdown of the federal government. Payments for things like Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment benefits would continue, but some federal government services could be shut down until an agreement is reached. Would a partial shutdown of the federal government be good for the economy, bad for the economy, or have no impact on the economy?

5* Would you rather have Congress avoid a government shutdown by authorizing spending at the same levels as last year or would you rather have a partial government shutdown until Democrats and Republicans can agree on what spending to cut?

NOTE: Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

EEEEhhhhhhhh......... dislike.

Why because of location?

you'd have to ask seventy one percent of NEW YORKERS

i guess the mosque to improve community relations didn't

improve relations, that is

i guess the lesson is---if you want to improve relations with people you should probably consider their sensibilities

in the house the party of pelosi split almost down the middle

85 dems went with the once palsied speakeress

104 sided with the party's whip and boehner

Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer split on spending bill - Simmi Aujla - POLITICO.com

this bodes big and bad for obama moving forward---on spending, on taxation, on major elements of obamacare...

under obama the party of progressivism has substantially compressed

and split

good job, barry

Wow, looks like we can look forward to more tax cuts and a higher deficit. The level of stupidity required to think that you need to lower revenue to increase revenue is mind-blowing to me.

Also, I keep waiting for a conservative to use the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. It ought to happen any day now in here.

Point being? Did I ever say that Obama was right in that decision? It was a sad ploy to garner popularity.

Unless people want to give up their military spending drastically (~40% of the budget) or else axe out Medicare and company, then maybe they'll have to pay a little more money. While they're acting like cutting about 4 billion is a huge success, just bringing taxes back to Clinton levels, combined with eliminating loopholes would get us a sweet 300 billion. I mean, come on, did you really have it so hard during Clinton's day? Would it kill you to help your country out a bit?

EEEEhhhhhhhh......... dislike.

These questions are much clearer than Gallup's were on Wisconsin aren't they??

Great job Rasmussen !!

Thanks for showing us how a real polling organization does it SE.

Point being?

you have to ask

Did I ever say that Obama was right in that decision?

no one cares what you said or didn't say

just bringing taxes back to Clinton levels, combined with eliminating loopholes would get us a sweet 300 billion

too late, obama signed the tax cuts into law

did you really have it so hard during Clinton's day?

ask obama

and clinton

Ask Clinton... if you had a hard time during his presidency?

What?

I think you just mastered the art of not arguing any of your points, and presenting that as a valid argument.

This coming from the party that still blames Bush 2 years into this presidents tenure.

Yea, it's the republicans that do that, democrats are immune.

How can the GOP reasonably place the blame for the shutdown on the democrats, when they're the only ones promoting and threatening a shutdown?

This is such a BS defense if they do shut it down...

Republicans Ease Demands in Effort to Avert Government Shutdown - Businessweek

The Republicans are promoting or threatening no such thing. No matter how badly the leftist media wish to frame this as a Republican intransigence, it remains the providence of the House to pass a budget. After that it is up to the Senate and President to confirm it. The President gets to propose a budget, but that's all it is, a proposal. The House is where all spending bills must originate. If the Senate and/or President reject it then they are the guilty parties. The House moved forward and the other party stopped it dead? So the people elected in the largest landslide in modern history are in the wrong?

You will only make things worse for yourselves in 2012 if you try and stop this.

Obviously community relations need to be improved... so why are 70% of people against it? You respect your Muslim students, but don't support helping community relations. It doesn't make sense to me...

few care what i think

i think obama's an idiot and a loser for putting himself, for nothing gained, against the will of so many locals, new yorkers, at that

i think his clumsy and crude imposition into manhattan affairs marks him, among a hundred other things he's done, as a rank amateur at the high stakes of american politics, almost an alien to our mores

i think that any effort to "improve relations" with some given community shouldn't so wantonly piss em off

i think 2 + 2 = 4

i couldn't care less about a mosque at ground zero, personally

tho i certainly understand where so many people are coming from, and their passion

since you're so interested in me, i am a born jew, christian convert, fundamentalist, who came in the 1960's to be what i described then for thirty years as "virulently anti zionist"

i still see aipac as having way too much influence over american foreign policy, and not to our red, white and blue advantage. i am an america firster

i've always had a great deal of sympathy for international islam, i see a lot of unhappiness there, i've never really seen american muslims as any part of the equation, for most of my life they absolutely weren't

9-11 changed my views concerning the mideast and the promised land a little, only a little

i've always been more disposed towards observing and commenting than pressing my beliefs on others

still interested?

i find the above really rather boring, way too personal

thanks for asking, tho, stay up

So if the GOP passes a "funding" bill with exactly $1 in it and refuse all amendments, then it's the fault of the Democratic Party if that's vetoed or filibustered? Do whatever Republicans say, or else the consequences of their actions are your fault! Nice logic.
