Like I keep saying... you might have the numbers, but it's a matter of time before it flips again. If you don't understand that political climates shift, then you have a problem.

Of course it's the Democrats' fault - everything Republicans do is the fault of someone else. They'd kick an old woman down the stairs and say "Oh, now look what you made me do! You scuffed my shoes!"

Not you personally... but the party in general.. and I did watch Hannity and Beck during those debates. They didn't portray the Muslims at that Mosque positively or have an honest debate or respectful dialogue.. They tried to link them to terrorists and extremism every chance they could. Newt went off the deep end with Nazi comparisons, and Palin begged them to not exercise their constitutional rights...

Why because of location? If you're Muslim and in NYC you're radical and out of line if you want to worship, but if you're Muslim and not in NYC you're ok? I'll try to remember that rule next time I am in NYC... and I went to the 9/11 museum the last time, and it upset me and I cried from the mess of ground zero and how it is still in shambles, but they are still trying to create a memorial in a rinky dink shop. I saw the pictures of the future site...

... but the Muslims aren't worthy of a Mosque/Community Center to serve as an outreach to the area. Slap in the face from the GOP.

And it doesn't matter if you have Muslim students and praise them... you still didn't support equality and equal rights for Muslim people.

well. if Republicans pass a bill to fund the Government.... and Democrats choose instead to let it die in the Senate or veto it from the White House....

.... then yeah... that was sort of "their fault".

Well, the GOP has passed a two-week CR. Reid says the Senate will pass it, but he can't guarantee that all Dems will vote for it, but certainly enough will vote with the GOP. That then puts the ball in the president's court...

58% Favor Government Shutdown Until Spending Cuts Are Agreed Upon - Rasmussen Reports™
National Survey of 1,000 Likely Voters
    Conducted February 24-25, 2011
    By Rasmussen Reports

1* How closely have you followed recent news reports about the federal budget debate in Congress?

2* Will the spending cuts proposed by Congressional Republicans significantly reduce federal spending and deficits or will they have little impact on overall levels of spending and deficits?

3* Congress never passed a budget for 2011, but authorized spending for a few months. That authorization will expire soon and Congress must act quickly or some federal government services could be shut down. As Congress authorizes spending for the rest of 2011, should they authorize spending at the same levels as last year, authorize less spending than last year, or authorize more spending than last year?

4* If Democrats and Republicans fail to reach a budget agreement soon, there will be a partial shutdown of the federal government. Payments for things like Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment benefits would continue, but some federal government services could be shut down until an agreement is reached. Would a partial shutdown of the federal government be good for the economy, bad for the economy, or have no impact on the economy?

5* Would you rather have Congress avoid a government shutdown by authorizing spending at the same levels as last year or would you rather have a partial government shutdown until Democrats and Republicans can agree on what spending to cut?

i guess the mosque to improve community relations didn't

    improve relations, that is

i guess the lesson is---if you want to improve relations with people you should probably consider their sensibilities

in the house the party of pelosi split almost down the middle

85 dems went with the once palsied speakeress

104 sided with the party's whip and boehner

Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer split on spending bill - Simmi Aujla - POLITICO.com

this bodes big and bad for obama moving forward---on spending, on taxation, on major elements of obamacare...

under obama the party of progressivism has substantially compressed

    and split

    good job, barry

Wow, looks like we can look forward to more tax cuts and a higher deficit. The level of stupidity required to think that you need to lower revenue to increase revenue is mind-blowing to me.

Also, I keep waiting for a conservative to use the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. It ought to happen any day now in here.
