This war is mostly political and I firmly believe it will not be won on the battlefield. There are many fronts in this war. The battlefield is important and must be won. No matter how much social or political success is achieved in the ME, it will not survive without winning on the battlefield.

I believe you missed the point of that sentence. In other words, the free world can still lose this war even if we defeat jihadis on the battlefield. A military only approach will not work. I understand your point.

I recognize the fact that this latest jihadi war will not be won on the battlefield and it will take non-military means to win it. It will take good intelligence and the ability to identify jihadis and track their finances and communications.

We’re fighting Islamic jihadis trying to kill as many innocent people as possible. Today. In 2011. I have no idea what “You sound like you're fighting WWII all over again” means to you.

If re-reading the thread and the re-quotes I issued doesn't clue you in - I've pretty much lost my faith in the American soldier.
