Free? Someone pays for them. Guess who?

It's still 28 bucks in Wisconsin.
Is that all, or are there other things like fingerprints?

I could care less about either party but this is just political BS that means more government. It will do absolutely nothing to curb voter fraud since most fraud is commited by vote counters and poll workers. This entire issue is a joke. A kneejerk, ineffective solution that your were told to support. All this bill will do is keep some Americans, mostly the elderly from voting. You people are pathetic.

this losing outlook is the problem with America today.

using technology today, it would be super easy to setup a lower cost voting system that is less prone to fraud and corruption then the current one.

think of it as the modern day Hoover Damn project, it could be accomplished.

the problem is too many politicians have a vested interest to not make those kind of improvements.

You should keep your fingerprints with you at all times, even though you don't need them to get a photo ID.

At the same time though, an illegal alien is voting when they don't have that right. I would support the government going to a person's residence to take a photo and create for them a photo ID. I support the legislation and I feel it will do more good than harm. In my state we have to show ID's and sign forms twice before we can vote and there really isn't much of a problem.

you can't look at this as a zero sum game.

fraud is rampant in our current system. Every year, tens of thousands or more people are having their vote stolen by fraud, making it statistically no different then your hypothetical concern for Bill Hendrickson.

How many ilegal aliens will risk getting caught and deported just to vote? They have to prove who they are to vote with the same documents they would use to get photo ID.

So the problem is really with the poll workers and not voter IDs? If an illegal doesn't have the identity papers to get a photo ID then he doesn't have the identity papers to vote.
Do you have any proof that tens of thousands of ilegals risked being caught and deported just to vote?

They were caught right? No, I don't think it is ahuge problem. It isn't a case of never versus always. Either one or the other.
