Because then illegal Juan Morales could walk in with citizen Pedro Cruz' papers and vote.

Actually, there have been several instances of voter fraud in Iowa. When I lived there, a Kerry campaign worker from Washington state tried to vote. I heard recently that a German resident going to college in Iowa was caught trying to vote.

    Don't pretend it doesn't happen.

You guys just don't get it. Why aren't the same papers that prove your identity to get a photo ID not good enough to allow you to vote?
    Illegals don't have photo IDs?

If those papers will get you the photo ID, then just get the @#$%^ photo ID!!!

Hey, if taking those paper down to get your voter registration is what you want, I'll play along. But we both know that ain't what this is about.

This is about letting anybody walk up and vote, because your party desperately needs these illegal Mexicans to win local and national elections.

Just be honest about your intentions.

    this has already been explained.

how many dmv stations does a state need? Of those, you have paid employees with paid training working full time. they can reasonably be expected to learn to properly identity the hundreds of acceptable forms of identification

and how many polling stations are needed. more. lots more. and they work for one day every year at most, and are volunteers. you honestly don't see an improvement over them only having to correctly identify 1 piece of id?

How long would it take to vote if we had to wait in line for this?

    .
Why should anyone be forced to do that by the government?
I could care less about either party but this is just political BS that means more government. It will do absolutely nothing to curb voter fraud since most fraud is commited by vote counters and poll workers. This entire issue is a joke. A kneejerk, ineffective solution that your were told to support. All this bill will do is keep some Americans, mostly the elderly from voting. You people are pathetic.

It looks like the Republicans are trying to lure the Dems to come back from fleeing the state by scheduling a vote on non-spending legislation that under senate laws the Republicans can vote on with a simple 17 majority present.
    This is all about 2012.

It's going to backfire on them either before or right after the elections when the U.S. defaults on loans and we go into a major depression.

Raise taxes on the wealthy, pay down the debt, and restart with these conservative, small Gov ideas. Look at what's happening in R.I. They fired all the teachers, and then will decide which ones to keep on. They're cutting the debt by cutting education-- human assets -- future workforce.
