All of those who insulted that fine man need to slapped in the face.

Well, y'see, that was the problem. Have you listened to the recording? As far as I could make out 2, maybe three people did not listen to him without heckling. It wasn't like he was mobbed or lynched. One person said 'woo-hoo', two others said 'haw-haw' and that was about the extent of the disrespect he received. I have a feeling certain forces are exaggerating the incident for political purposes. Couldn't be News International, could it?

A veteran who was wounded so grievously, shot 11 times, who nearly died serving his country... to have him treated so disrespectfully literally hurts my heart. There's probably nobody who is more against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan than I am, but this behavior is so uncalled for. I hate the wars, but honor the soldiers.

I can't wrap my head around such mean-spirited outbursts.

I hope the Sgt makes a full recovery, it kinda reminds me of what my late great uncle went through. His stomach was destroyed by gun fire in Korea and always had problems doing basic tasks and getting around. One can only imagine the pain that Maschek went though.

I think anyone who is courageous enough to serve in the military should be praised no matter how you feel for the wars. You do not have to agree with what harm they are put in but to boo or heckle a veteran is so unAmerican it makes me sick. The people who literally serve and protect each and everyone of our rights shouldnt have to deal with BULL from ungrateful and useless people.

Right, a difference needs to be outlined between the war and the warriors, the policy and the executors.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. I know that not all anti-war people are not trash, which is why I didn't say "Anti-war acting like the trash they are". I am sure many of the ones who are not trashed would never join code pink or behave the way these anti-war trash in the op article did.
