Wisconsin Governor to Missing Democrats: Do Your Job

Coming from someone who's been a member for a whole day! LOL
There are a lot of people on this forum who have great credibility,
and then there are people like you.

History has proven...
You can have great credibility for years N' lose it within one day.
Like wise you can no credibility for years N' gain great credibility within one day.

Rome isn't built in one day but all it takes is one moment in time to be a hero.

Anyway what's important my friend is you enjoy the journey N' don't worry be happy. :2wave:

great photo by the way.

Thanks, I don't know why but that photo keeps me happy. lmao :ind:

madison is going down as---the TAXPAYERS vs the SEIU's and AFSCME's

You seem to be under the false impression that members of unions are NOT taxpayers.
You also seem to be under the impression that no other citizens are against the Governors efforts.
Both are serious errors of fact.

our public employees are overpaid and overpensioned---for times like these

I stand ready to look at your objective and authoritative independent evidence on both of these charges.

I don't get it. If they don't like the bill, can't they just vote "no?" Don't tell me that this is another puerile "quorum" sit out. Can't get their way so they're gonna shut down the government. Totally lame, no matter which party is doing it.

And somebody should tell those stupid protesters that, duh, the state cannot afford to pay all of you, so either you take a cut in your fat, union-inflated salaries or a whole bunch of you spoiled fools (who should be damned happy just to have a job in this economy) are going to join the ranks of the unemployed.

I just hate this "I've got mine, I don't care what happens to them" attitude. It sucks.

And why can the Republicans in the Senate just vote "no" for all the federal judges they've been holding up. Why couldn't they just vote "no" on the more than 140 bills they filibustered?

The only people who are playing the "I've got mine games are the CEO's and Financial Industry tycoons who profited off this whole mess and were never forced to sacrifice anything as a result.

Walker fudged up the numbers to create a crisis, anyway. This is nothing but a lie in an effort to take workers' rights away.

I just think it's idiotic that people who probably make the same or less than government workers cheer on the further destruction of workers' rights. Screw yourselves, why don't you?

Explain to me please why it is that these government employees deserve to have free health care, and free pensions? Why should I pay for their health, and retirement? It's supposed to be civil service, not a golden ticket.

The protests are about how the bill destroys collective bargaining, not about cuts. The unions have made repeated attempts to negotiate cuts, to which they were stonewalled by Walker. This is about destroying workers' rights.

They get free health care in WI? Are you calling living on a median salary range of $32-60,000 a "golden ticket"?

I believe that collective bargaining is what helped fuel the over spending on all the contracts in question.

Union out lived their usefulness a long time ago and no amount of offers now are going to go far enough to shut them down as is needed.

STate and Federal Laws now cover and protect workers rights and wage along with hour laws.

The BS about this being about the xchildren ans saving weekends off is pure BS and nothing more.

What over spending? You mean about how public sector workers in Wisconsin are underpaid by 4.3% compared to their private sector counterparts, benefits included? And about how the state budget office had a projected surplus until Walker passed his tax cuts in January?

Sorry, but unions have negotiated... or rather bullied... states into bankruptcy. In California, our prison guards are the highest paid in the whole country. The teacher's union is corrupt, with cushy new administration buildings while schools set buckets in the classroom when it rains. Public employees here are among the highest paid in the nation. California is nearly bankrupt. The governor tried to negotiate lower wages, benefit freezes, furloughs... every damned union said, "no way." He implemented mandated furloughs. The unions took him to court and the court said he couldn't do it because it violated union contracts. And the legislature? They gave themselves and their personal employees a raise.

I've negotiated with union reps when I was finance director of a SoCalif city. It didn't matter what the city budget was, they demanded more and when told that if the city met those demands that dozens upon dozens of city employees would lose their jobs, the union reps said, "So what? You have to lay off the newest employees first, and that's not us."

That's exactly what the unions are saying now. They want to continue to have free pensions, free health care AND the ability to bully the state via unbreakable union contracts. There's no way governments can be flexible enough to assure public services with constantly-changing revenues so long as they are bound by the untenable chains of multi-year union contracts and constant strike threats.

This has nothing to do with pay. It has to do with these children kicking in, and participating in their own Health Care, and Pensions. Why is that such a bad thing? Hell I have to do that. Why shouldn't they?

Please show me where collective bargaining is a "right" as laid out by our constitution. It's not a right.

No, it's about the Governor trying to stop the Unions from down the road being able to put the State into a hole again.

Workers Rights, from you, that's a joke.

Just look at his avatar pic, that answers all your questions about where he stands.

Actually, its about a right wing zealot attempting to hijack the office of Governor to destroy the working person in Wisconsin. There was no financial crisis in that state.

It's immoral to circumvent the democratic process and fail to perform the task that they are paid to perform simply because they think their morality is superior to other people's.

I'm curious did you say the same thing when republicans used every trick in the book to delay the HCR? THey obstructed the vote.

The WI legislature should find those who fled in contempt, impeach them and eject them from the legislature. Quorum restored!

This fleeing of legislators has happened before (was it TX?). Anyone know what the makeup of that legislature is today?

Yes the republicans manipulated the redistricting to remove 4 democrats and replace them with 4 republicans to go to Washington.

It was wrong and Tom DeLay is going to jail for it.
But hey the republicans got their majority through sleazy tactics so IOKIYAR.

How many conservatives did you see "RUN" from their responsibility to serve the people who hired them to look after their interests? Real "statesmen" like...no? The DNC is filled with nothing but grifters and con artists who serve only SELF. We the People should witness more of these Democrat traits, 2012 is not that far removed from today's events in Wisconsin.

They didn't have to leave they have the filibuster. The minority tryed to rule the majority.

Assuming a family of 4 with the generic 2.5 children, that free healthcare is worth much more, especially when adding in the family coverage and retirement coverage - and where are you getting the 32K to 60K number again?

More STATESMEN like logic, if you cannot play by the rules....you RUN and try to steal the ball to take home? Seems kind'a childish, but then again we are speaking of the DNC. What happened to "CIVILITY", and intellectual debate? So you are concluding that THE PEOPLE who through the process of democracy placed these people into office really do not matter?

MY GOD!!, Do we really have people such as this making decisions that effects the lives of everyone in the United States? Its frightening to say the least.

Why are you sorry?

What I mostly do all day is serve the people of my state working for the State Legislature. My posts here are during breaks, working lunches and infrequent down time. I have a great deal of respect for true conservatives. Where is Wiliam F. Buckley when you need him? I have very little respect for pure right wingers and tea party reactionaries and they deserved to be slammed and slammed hard and slammed frequently.

As to the rest of your statement - I have trouble enough translating some of the rightwingenese I read on the net and I just did not get your last two sentences.
I hope I don't live in your state.

What are the polls in Wisconsin showing? Which size are the folks there siding with?

Because nationally, Americans are siding with the Governor big time. He's fast becoming a national figure in the GOP, perhaps a presidential candidate one day, because of this. Amazing, you run on a platform, then you follow through with that platform. What a concept.

He's making the teachers and Dems look like fools. Or, they're actually doing this to themselves.

You should really run him for President in 2012.
