Meaning those that did not lie, should be paid for attempting to do the job they were hired for?
Actually, they did not. When there are not enough teachers, there are no students to teach. So they really did not DO their job- as you put it. You will have to pose your question to the school boards who handle such things. My experience is that once the stoppage is over, everyone gets back on the same page and none of things are ever really considered. Everybody shakes hands, kisses and makes up, and moves on with business as usual. And that is after very bitter and angry events in which both sides engage in caustic vitriol promising to bring doom upon their opponents.

Yes, yes, I only grew up in Lansing Mi. Had nearly all my friends in the UAW, watched that union turn Flint into a ****hole rather than make concessions that could have kept jobs there. Moved out of MI because of the mentality of proud union members that believed that the money was endless, and they were owed something. But I know nothing of it....pfft....JA.

I want to see where he has explicitly admitted that this is a long term political reform rather than just about balancing the state budget.

Then I am sure that with all the power being in the hands of the minority State Senators they are gleefully trekking back to Madison right now as we speak eh?

Actually, I believe they can't vote on budgetary issues but they can vote on other issues. They will likely hold a vote on removing the public unions collective bargaining powers as part of another bill that they can pass instead of part of the financial bill.

NO. Since the contracts of the employees are annual salaries, and other workers are furloughed during a work stoppage, there are very few who get anything extra out of it. Its just a matter of shuffling the days on the calendar which generally costs nothing.

The comparison is only fair is you compare educational and skill levels of teachers with others in the private sector where the same educational and skill levels are demanded.
