Egypt's Mubarak resigns as leader

How can I put this...

I agree that Mubarack needs to be run out of town on a rail, but I'm not convinced that the Egyptians traded up.

Ya' follow?

The Egyptians have done the REMARKABLE these past 18 days. It really is a Revolution and that don't happen every decade. No one knows the ultimate outcome and there is a probability that it could turn out worse than it was....for who? It may be better for the Egyptians but worse for the US and Israel. So be it. Same thing happened in Iraq. Fragile democracy who are anti-American.

You have been profoundly negative and ringing alarm bells about the possible negative outcome of all this. We got that the first time you posted. Conservatives are running around with their shriveled-up dicks in their hand worried about the consequences and immune to the remarkable events and remarkable resilience of the young Egyptian people, who are not Islamists. You will get to witness a true ideological battle in the ME between the secular and the Islamists. It is time for the secular Muslims to stand up against tyranny, whether that takes the form of secular autocracy or theocracy.

Ok...I never said that Mubarack didn't need to get the hell out town. You claim that I did. It's either a fallacy, or a flat out lie. You choose.
.
Well what is it? Was Mubaraks leaving a good or a bad thing? Your previous posts lead us to believe you think it was a bad thing.
You can't have it both ways.

Just as it's not a fact that it will pose a threat. So the fearmongering you and a few others are doing is nothing short of laughable.

What is? The supression of the Egyptian people for the last thirty years? Yes, suspending constitutional rights is completely opinionated.

This part of your post is opinion:

The new government will be better than the previous one by a longshot.

In case you haven't notice; the Egyptians no longer have any constitutional rights, because there's no longer a constitution.

The constitution was voided by the military, so the MB isn't banned, anymore.

The Constitution has not been voided by the military. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I've never come close to saying that Mubarack stepping down was a bad thing.

What's that? Fallacy #5?

I will once again choose the Neoconservative perspective on all of this.

Stand for Freedom

But hysteria is not a sign of health. When Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left, he brings to mind no one so much as Robert Welch and the John Birch Society. He’s marginalizing himself, just as his predecessors did back in the early 1960s.

Nor is it a sign of health when other American conservatives are so fearful of a popular awakening that they side with the dictator against the democrats. Rather, it’s a sign of fearfulness unworthy of Americans, of short-sightedness uncharacteristic of conservatives, of excuse-making for thuggery unworthy of the American conservative tradition.

Do you think it would be possible and beneficial to make Egypt a "most favored nation" for increased economic development and trade? To help them address the economic woes. Does "most favored nation" mean anything anymore?

MFN now refers to permanent normal trade relations with the U.S. Egypt already has such a trade relationship with the U.S. IMO, it would be in the U.S. interest to be prepared to assist a future elected Egyptian government (so long as it is a friendly one) with economic development. Economic development will be a priority.

Yeah, but this hasn't played out yet. There were people that said the Iranian revoltion of 79 was awesome, too. Khomeni was hailed as the savior of Iran. What about the Bolshevic revolution? That was a popular uprising. The Egyptian revolution in 1952 was a popular uprising. That's what got us to where we are.

There's more evidence to suggest that this won't have a happy ending than there is that it will, so I'll wait until this all comes out in the wash, before I get excited.

I trully apologize for having an opinion based on reality, rather than fantascy, but there it is. It in no way excuses the insults.

Question: if this goes to hell in a handbag, are you going to blame the Egyptian people?

It's a fact that having rights will be better than not having any rights.

reality moment: the Egyptians no longer have constitutional rights.

This is W's achievement despite the corruption, efforts and incompetence of O.

Dude what are you drinking? It sure is a lot stronger than Kool Aide.

BTW I guess you missed what Darth Vader (Cheney) W's number two man had to say about the whole situation the other day. As usual he has no clue.

So please entertain us. Tell us what Dumbya had to do with this.

Iran's leadership is very, very, nervous right now cutting off the Internet and rounding up suspects. Gee I wonder why?

I would pay good money to see Iran's president and the clergy that run the country hanged for crimes against humanity. Hopefully it will happen some day.

And what the hell does GW have to do with any of this? :lamo

this will provide an opportunity for new parties to form for truly representative government to evolve

That seems be what is frightening Apdst. ;)

Are you going to call me a racist if I criticize Obama, too?

Seems like you Leftists can only argue that everyone else is a, "fearmongerer/liar/racist/homophobe/bigot". Ya'll can't argue without a label.

Yep yet another repressive corrupt regime we have a hand in keeping in power so we can get our precious black gold. If unrest ensues in the House of Saud I wonder how much oil will shoot up in price? But don't worry our CIA has trained them well in ruthless interrogations and intimidation just like we did the Shah of Iran's regime.

No, as there are many things I criticize Obama for myself, but let's try to stick to the topic.

Wow talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

How you figger that?

Oh that's right you have a problem with understanding the idiom in another post. If you can't figure it out I can't help you.

For every failed revolution, I could name a successful one. The growth in democracies over the past 60 years is amazing - everywhere but the ME.

I have no idea why you, and other conservatives, decide to be pessimistic and harp on the negative.

The insult is not specifically directed at you, as we agree on lots of other things and I typically like what you have to say. Gotta respect the service to country as well.

The insult is to all conservatives (except neocons). America in totality is a big disappointment to me in these events. Especially conservatives. We should be jumping for joy with the Egyptians and shipping them flowers by the ton. We should be demonstrating in support.

Conservatives especially earn my disdain and anger. Talk about complete and utter hypocrisy. And even worse, it is hypocrisy regarding the VERY FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE OF CONSERVATISM, LIBERTY. Evidently, it isn't good enough to bless Egyptians and other Middle Easterners with. Utterly pathetic. I have no fair thoughts toward conservatives today. ****ers.
