It's been two days. Give it least a week before you give up on it. How long after the liberation did Iraq have it's first election?

That's irrelevent, because we all knew that the United States wasn't going to install a dictatorship. The Egyptian army? Well, that remains to be seen.

Do you think they are lying? Why?

I don't exactly believe that they're lying, but you'll have to excuse me if I don't get all warm and fuzzy thinking that they're telling the truth.

They've created a ruling military council, disbanded parliament and voided the constitution. Not a good start, IMO.

Yeah, that's the one. Now they have nothing to prevent the army from ruling for another 30 years.

Don't hate me, just because I don't see the army making a deal that won't allow them to keep the status that they have.

Where once the military life guaranteed at best a genteel poverty, senior Egyptian officers now live like pashas, with incomes far beyond their official salaries. Add to this pyramid of military privilege
civilian relatives of senior military officers who’ve used their access and protection to game Egypt’s system of crony capitalism, and mid-ranking officers who can’t conceive of themselves outside of the orbit of their uniformed patrons, and you’ve got a legion of men and women who really don’t want Egypt to change that much. The enemy of reform and democracy in Egypt—and everywhere else in the Arab world—isn’t only the power of dictators and their families but also the appetite and expectations of their armed forces, which created modern authoritarianism.

    It's an excellent start.

I disagree that voiding the constitution, disbanding parliament and consolidating the army's power into a supreme military council is an, "excellant start".

Not necessarily. I'm in a, "I'll believe it when I see it", mode.
