Except, he didn't build anymore concentration camps. No more than FDR did, anyway.

I'm deffending historical accuracy. I'm not one of those swells that insist's on believing a bull**** version of history, just because I hate the person that the facts pertain to.

Alright, alright so just so we're clear. Let's say I concede that Byrd was still a racist even though quit the Klan and spent over half a century working towards civil rights. Can I also say that the Southern United states as a whole are still racist also due to their history? Think carefully about this question.

Nim Wilkes, was a free black man that volunteered to serve in Forrest's cavalry.

Here's a report from the OR's--that's the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, purdy much the bible of civil war history.

"The forces attacking my camp were the First Regiment Texas Rangers, a battalion of the First Georgia Rangers … and quite a number of Negroes attached to the Texas and Georgia troops, who were armed and equipped, and took part in the several engagements with my forces during the day" (Lieutenant Colonel Parkhurst's Report (Ninth Michigan Infantry) on General Forrest's attack at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, July 13, 1862, in Official Records, Series I, Vol XVI, Part I, page 805).
