    A Democrat victory?

To me it looks like both parties let the country down.

Fair enough, apologies for the source. Here is another story, not a legitimate source, but an example of how the Patriot Act enables law enforcement to abuse the rights of American citizens. It is more than conceivable for this story to be true and I wouldn't be shocked if it were... 2600 NEWS: PHOTOGRAPHER ARRESTED FOR TAKING PICTURES OF VICE PRESIDENT'S HOTEL
Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I am just thrilled to see conservatives on this board that are aghast at this legislation. When the original version passed in 2001 I thought I was arguing with the world. When it was renewed in 2005, I found a handful of liberals to argue on my side.... now the opposition is more broad based, but still not sufficient.

The passage of this bill is an act of American cowardice. It was based on Valentine's day by people that lacked sufficient love and respect for our constitution.

No. But that's for a different topic... This one is about the police state we live in and how our basic rights are overruled by a false sense of security. But I do like how ideals like opposing the patriot act unites some of us on both the right, left, and center. It shows that both sides have good intentions for our country and our hearts are in the right place.

I was afraid of the Patriot act because we were told it would be used for detecting terrorists or on suspected terrorists and nothing more.

Then it was used in a corruption case involving the Cheetah Club owner and some City officials in San Diego.

The FBI used the On Star system in a Hummer II to listen to the owner and others as they drove from Vegas to San Diego.

It resulted in a number of convictions and proved we were lied to.

Patriot act TWO has provisions that go even farther.

I am glad to see it go

No, I'm sure it's still "GIMME GIMME GIMME!" But if you're against the Patriot Act, you might consider voting for Democrats instead of fascists.
