First of all, my original comment was in reply to American. Then cholla had to play hero and butt into the conversation, because he/she felt that American was incapable of responding on his own. Then you came along and felt you had to butt into the conversation as well. Perhaps you should try minding your own business and stick to the topic instead of your pathetic continued attempts at baiting. Cool?

Americans are so enamored of equality that they would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.

Nope I blame both parties. Both do the same things.

The voting public is awakening more and more, day by day, and they don't like what they see. There is no more excuses for this profligate spending, and "fundemental transformation" of our nation. We don't like what that transformation is looking like.
What transformation? I see the current president doing the same stuff his opposing party would do if they were in office...

Yep, no reason to believe that the repubs got the message of '08 eh? Yeah, they're all just trash, so who will you vote for in '12? Someone with no chance? Good for you.

Probably true but at least the words I speak have meaning and the principles I stand by are non-negotiable. Meanwhile people like you serve the other party just as much as your own.

Oh yes meaning and principle. Take that to the change bank...I'll stick with someone I can agree with 80% and actually put someone in that can get something done rather than walking around with that 'I'm better than everyone else because I voted the obscure ticket'...

Consider the distance from a plane a doing an approach to the ground, but is still relatively high in altitude. The people down below are nearly impossible to spot, but their cars might be. It seems like a toy universe, one that is both lacking in realism and petty at the same time. You get closer to the ground, and the realism steadily increases and the perspective seems more grand. Then you think to yourself, from that little car down there, they must be thinking so much about their surroundings and how much their lives matter, even though from an altitude of a plane, it seems so insignificant.

From your perspective, the difference is not that clear, but the differences that are there the closer you come back to the surface, they are very large. While to a significant degree Obama will follow the trend of the Bush administration, which came to some degree from the Clinton administration, which came to the Bush Sr. Administration, which came from the Reagan administration before that....there are also significant changes that cannot be discounted so readily. In a sense, it would be like claiming Douglas and Lincoln were essentially the same platform, but that also would be creating quite the fairy tale.

Being the principled man is a pedagogical necessity, but it is likewise different in the real ball game.

And what they get done by your standards only weakens our country fiscally and defensively. You're empire, we can no longer afford. Our debt continues to mount while China and other nations continue to grow stronger off it. Once these nations are strong enough, our monetary standards will no longer be valuable enough to them. Laborer jobs are expendable today. High-tech jobs are as well. I'm sure this sounds like ridiculous conspiracy theories to you like republics and democracies sounded to the monarchies of the past. Your empire will crumble from this path you will not abandon.

51% is not that high. Furthermore, against unnamed opponents. Further still, even if unnamed opponents suddenly are named, they are not being voted on today. We are still riding the wave, but have little knowledge of what to expect in the next year.
