Longtime Rep. Jane Harman to Quit Congress - FoxNews.com

Jane Harman of California is quitting Congress before her term expires.

Where, I wonder, are all the liberal weenies that whined like little babies about Palin quitting as governor of Alaska before her term expired? They should be furious now too.

They did the same thing, both went into private life, other positions, etc.

Could the utter lack of outrage here be because she has a D after her name, not an R?

wait for it...wait for it...wait for it...

"...but...but...but...that's different!"

Does the, "D", stand for, "different"?

Beat me to it!! Son-of-a-bitch!!

More bogus conservative carping at the world? What a surprise!

The really interesting aspect for me about Jane Harman's departure will be the form of the election to fill her vacated seat.

The election will be the first major test of the state's new "jungle primary" law where all candidates -- regardless of party -- will run against one another. … The two top vote-getters advance to a special general election.

Harman is quitting to join a highly respected institution of scholars responsible for helping draft America's foreign and domestic policies.

Palin quit so she could be on TLC.

One will still be serving the American people.

The other is making a buck off them.

Harmen has served nine terms in congress. That's nearly 20 years. You're honestly trying to say that's no different than a governor quitting in the middle of her first term?? The comparison is totally lame.

And I assume you have proof that Ms. harman is not accepting a salary or other compensation from her new position?

The utter lack of outrage is probably due to the fact that no one cares about some random congresswoman who 99% of Americans had never heard of prior to today.

Yes, that's why Palin quit :rolls:

Do you even read the stupidity that you write sometimes?

Plus, she didn't run for office with a, "D", behind her name. She didn't run on a presidential ticket opposing The One. Her name isn't Sarah Palin.

We know: it's different.

So what you're saying is that working for the American people is the same as getting paid by them to watch you on television. Palin is a celebrity. Her job is to keep the revenue flowing and the suckers buying. Harman is now the head of a respected association of scholars who most Americans probably have never even heard of. She makes a salary from whatever funding the organization receives. Her job isn't to keep people buying books or t-shirts. Your comparison is a total failure. Not a surprise.

Oh you're right, I remember why she quit. Cause people were mean to her and Palin didn't like that.

Palin quit because thanks to the liberals who are out to destroy her, she was no longer able to do her job for Alaska. Did Harman quit because staying would harm the country?

Why Palin Quit - WSJ.com
Contrary to most reports, her decision had been in the works for months, accelerating recently as it became clear that controversies and endless ethics investigations were threatening to overshadow her legislative agenda. "Attacks inside Alaska and largely invisible to the national media had paralyzed her administration," someone close to the governor told me. "She was fully aware she would be branded a 'quitter.' She did not want to disappoint her constituents, but she was no longer able to do the job she had been elected to do. Essentially, the taxpayers were paying for Sarah to go to work every day and defend herself."This situation developed because Alaska's transparency laws allow anyone to file Freedom of Information Act requests. While normally useful, in the hands of political opponents FOIA requests can become a means to bog down a target in a bureaucratic quagmire, thanks to the need to comb through records and respond by a strict timetable. Similarly, ethics investigations are easily triggered and can drag on for months even if the initial complaint is flimsy. Since Ms. Palin returned to Alaska after the 2008 campaign, some 150 FOIA requests have been filed and her office has been targeted for investigation by everyone from the FBI to the Alaska legislature. Most have centered on Ms. Palin's use of government resources, and to date have turned up little save for a few state trips that she agreed to reimburse the state for because her children had accompanied her. In the process, though, she accumulated $500,000 in legal fees in just the last nine months, and knew the bill would grow ever larger in the future.

Yes, we know. Liberals hate Palin on a personal level. Conservatives don't hate Obama personally. Please stop your hipocrisy?

As far as your thread goes, nothing more than a op-ed piece by a right wing rag.

Are you saying she wasn't bombarded with frivilous ethics violations brought on by liberals? I can't help it if I have to use op-ed pieces. None of the liberal rags ever tell the truth when it comes to Palin.

So the FBI and Alaska legilature are liberals?

I can't help it if I have to use op-ed pieces. None of the liberal rags ever tell the truth when it comes to Palin.

So what you're saying is that somebody's OPINION PIECE gave you the TRUTH on something? Are you really that incapable of thinking for yourself?

.

I can only speak for myself, but I don't HATE President Obama. I think his ideas and policies are bad for America and the world, but that doesn't mean I hate him. I can't speak for other Conservatives, however...

I am just amazed how desperate Conservs are to find equivalence for each shortcoming within their own stable. I am more amazed at the stretches that are necessary to even present a case of equivalence.

Sorry, but I don't think Harman has the stature of Palin, nor did she quit before fulfilling even the initial term for which she was elected. No one is going to make the same fuss about a congressman quiting their job as they are about a VP candidate that likely quit only for personal gain. While I agree she shoud fulfill the entire term for which she was elected, this is not "equivalence"....

Short answer: there is no outrage about Harman because there is zero passion about Harman (pssst.... no one know who she is, thus no one cares).

the only failure is yours.... both left office for PAID private positions. What the position is, is immaterial... as are you.

how dare you bring facts and reality into the discussion.

Her district office used to be in the building where I rent space. Her name is still in the street sign.

Ethics complaints filed against Palin: Former Gov. Sarah Palin | adn.com
most of these were from private citizens... and were dismissed.
Oh wait... here's a good one...
filed under the name of Edna Birch, a busybody character on the British soap opera Emmerdale.
