Longtime Rep. Jane Harman to Quit Congress

Longtime Rep. Jane Harman to Quit Congress - FoxNews.com

Jane Harman of California is quitting Congress before her term expires.

Where, I wonder, are all the liberal weenies that whined like little babies about Palin quitting as governor of Alaska before her term expired? They should be furious now too.

They did the same thing, both went into private life, other positions, etc.

Could the utter lack of outrage here be because she has a D after her name, not an R?

What part of the word 'longtime' do you not understand? Sarah Palin didn't finish one term as Governor.

Are you saying she wasn't bombarded with frivilous ethics violations brought on by liberals? I can't help it if I have to use op-ed pieces. None of the liberal rags ever tell the truth when it comes to Palin.
The Republican party in Alaska was split and feuding, many were against her were Republicans - the Lisa Mukowski wing.

Like I said, "that's different". It's always different with the Libbos.

Great. I wish more long time Congressmen from all parties would follow suit.

She shouldn't have quit, plain and simple. The only reason I would accept for leaving office early is family troubles or a promotion to a different office. I don't think Palin quitting means she's a terrible person, just like I don't think that of Harman. With that said, I wouldn't vote for either of them for president or any other term of office. They've shown a lack of interest to their job and I don't respect that.

BTW, I'd suggest not starting a thread by calling people "liberal weenies". Makes you look like a petty little child. Maybe that's how you want to come off to people, in that case you're doing a great job.

CA36 in the 90's was a competitive district, it was gerrymandered in 2000 with republican leaning palos verdes removed and a big slice of blue added from west of long beach and south of culver city...

now that redistricting has been taken away from the assembly and turned over to an independent panel, ms harman's district may be reconfigured in a way less advantageous to her

what's happening with ms harman is not unexpected in this state, and she may well not be the only one

mr miller in martinez, mr thompson in napa-mendocino are others rumored to be considering retirement

the only failure is yours.... both left office for PAID private positions. What the position is, is immaterial... as are you.

Lol the head WWCF is not a private position. It was established by Congress and funded by the government and public donations. The government also appoints the people directing the institution. You have no idea what it is you're talking about do you? This is like calling being the head of Smithsonian a private position.

more on what's really going on concerning ms harman:

Redistricting, in particular, poses a serious threat to Blue Dogs, given that many hold marginal seats in states where Republicans unilaterally control the line-drawing.

In North Carolina, for instance, Democratic Reps. Mike McIntyre and Heath Shuler are at risk. In Georgia, Rep. John Barrow is the most threatened Democrat in the state, and Rep. Sanford Bishop might not be far behind.

Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tenn., could see more conservative neighborhoods outside Nashville added to his district.

Outside of the South, Reps. Joe Donnelly of Indiana, Leonard Boswell of Iowa, Jason Altmire of Pennsylvania, and Jim Matheson of Utah are all at risk of running in districts that are less favorable to them.

Shuler, a member of the Blue Dog leadership, said on Morning Joe on Monday that “there has really been no communication whatsoever” between himself and Pelosi—a striking admission, given the seminal role that Blue Dogs have long played in caucus politics. But perhaps she’s just recognizing the new reality—that Blue Dogs might soon be an endangered species.

while it is true that CA36 will not be redrawn by hands all republican, the district will be refashioned by fingers entirely different from those who drew it last

LOL....from your own source:

Harman, is on most issues a liberal, having earned a 95 percent rating from the liberal group Americans for Democratic Action. On intelligence and defense issues she tends to be a moderate. For example, she was one of many Democrats who supported the Iraq War.[17] As a member of the Democratic Leadership Council, Harman has combined a moderate stance on economic, trade, and foreign policy issues with a more liberal stance on social issues. For instance, while voting with Republicans to restrict rules on personal bankruptcy, for lawsuit reform, and to abolish the estate tax — as well as on protecting those defense contractors with business interests in her congressional district — Harman voted against the ban on partial-birth abortions, lawsuits against gun manufacturers, the Defense of Marriage Act, and banning indecent broadcasting

I lived in Harman's district for many years.....hardly what you would call a bluedog.

You should maintain your own self-respect and refrain from commenting on issues that you obviously don't have a clue about.

tell it to the sitting member of the bluedog caucus
