No, a nickel for every time a national news agency 1) Makes an ass of themselves with regard to storms 2) Over dramatizes storms. I have no idea why you would take this to a political level, considering I make a conscious decision to remove myself from the crap that is CNN and MSNBC.
In Mansfield, La., this morning it was 65. 15 minutes later it was 45 and it's supposed to be in the high teens/low 20's tonight.
I'll be glad when that ****ing global warming kicks in.

Here in Houston, it was 70 yesterday. Right now, it is about 39. Quite a drop. We will be having some snow on Friday. Haven't seen that in years. I will try to take a picture of it before it melts, which should take about 10 minutes. LOL.
Anybody here have any stories about the ongoing storm they would like to share?
Article is here.
PS - I decided to make my link one to a political site, just in case anybody would like to blame the storm on either Obama or Bush.
Shorty Pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's stuck in a tree down the block about 200 feet from the house -- 20" of snow and 3-4 foot drifts. Tom's going to have a freakin' heart attack clearing a path for him back to the house.
I let him out this morning because he's a wild scaredy cat who doesn't use the litter box -- so no choice. He got under Tom's truck and Tom tried to get him back in the house; but Shorty took that as, "OMFG!OMFG!OMFG! somebody's trying to kill me!!!!" So he jumped through the 2-foot snow with Tom trying to catch him. Lesson: Cats can maneuver faster in two-foot snow than skinny white boys. Just shoot me.

Just think of this. My community's ancestors braved much harsher stuff than this (-50 or worse at times) while in holes in the ground-damn near isolated from anyone else, while the North Easterners had homes.
Did he come down yet?
My cats are content to stay in. They are sissies.
My well has been froze up since Monday. Looks like it will be that way for a while. Luckily I keep big jugs of water filled for emergencies, so have plenty for animals and my coffee.
I've been sick for over a week now and hopefully won't have to try to go anywhere in this weather. Thank goodness I still have electricity and plenty of propane. It could be worse....I could still live in Ohio.
And in other news, water is wet and the pope is Catholic.
Turned out to be a myth. There was no evidence of canabalism.
Shorty's Back!!!!
It's supposed to be below zero here tonight, so after seven hours of meoooooowing in the tree, Tom got a trimmer pole and put a skylight pole on the end of it with duct tape. Then we went out and harrassed Shorty until he finally came down. OMG!!! Then, he balanced on fences trying to get home.
Shorrrrty!!!!! Meooooow!!!!! Shorrrrrty Paaants!!!!! Meooooooooow!!!! For 45 minutes until he balanced his way home. Walked out of Tom's boots, ended up barefoot...can anyone spell newmonia?? ;-) ;-) I'm sooooo happy!!!
Barb, I hope you feel better soon. This weather, though, was a good excuse to stay in. So you certainly know you didn't miss much.
Shorty is grounded. USE THE LITTER BOX!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is Lakeshore Drive in Chicago:
Hundreds of people have been trapped inside their cars, as the snow has attempted to bury them alive. Thanks to rescue operations, there have been no deaths yet, but there are still hundreds of abandoned cars littering the street, and there is going to be no traffic at all in Chicago for the foreseeable future.
Before this storm is over, there will be plenty of deaths, from Chicago, all the way South to Georgia. This is going to be one for the history books.
Here in Houston, we are bracing for a blizzard tomorrow, with a record snowfall of up to 5 inches, not including a lot of freezing rain and sleet, which will hit first. Both Bush and Hobby Airports are closing tomorrow, and rolling blackouts are going to continue over all of Texas. I will not be out on the road at all, as people here have no idea of how to drive in the snow, or on ice. There will be plenty of accidents here, but we will be in nowhere near as bad of shape as those who live north of here. Dallas is going to get it's ass kicked.
Mexico will provide electricity to Texas to help the U.S. state weather an ice storm that has forced rolling blackouts.

I found this amusing. Perry has to resort to foreign aid for Texas. . .from Mexico no less. . .LOL. . .
Because the Fed keeps blocking Texas from buidling more power plants.
