Uganda gay rights activist David Kato killed

There are some specific individuals in the U.S. who have earned themselves a considerable degree of karma with their words.

Uganda is a horrible place in general, but it's exceptionally horrible to homosexuals, who have had their photos printed on the front page of newspapers with headlines screaming, Hang Them!" It's only a matter of time until all of those who were "outted" publicly by these papers are murdered. This guy actually had the guts to sue the newspaper. I'm sad to see this happen to him, and to all the murdered people in this corrupt and bigotted country.

May this brave man rest in peace. And may the people who perpetrated this crime receive the punishment they deserve.

What a shame. May his murderers be brought to justice. My condolences to his family and to homosexuals currently suffering oppression in Uganda.

This crap again? Really?

It's the truth. Homosexuality is punishable by death in Uganda. This man was beaten to death for being a gay rights activist. This is what happened, it's not hype, just hate.

The article says that the prime is the man that lived with Kato. So, we can't rule out a crime of passion.

Not saying what is, or isn't the case; only pointing out what the article says.

It also says that his image was in a newspaper among others with the title "hang them." We can't make a definitive ruling and motive, but the facts are that a homosexual rights activist was barbarically beaten to death and had his image in a news paper that called for his hanging.

Also, I would have trouble believing the Ugandan police on this case.

I think you're jumping to conclusions, because it fits your perspective of the world. Obviously, anytime a gay person is killed, it's hate crime and no other possibility.

The Ugandan police could tell you that crap tastes bad and you would have trouble believing them. Again, because you already have your mind made up about what went down here.

It's just like someone said on a local talk show a while back: "Never underestimate the power of the made up mind".

It's more like I have trouble believing a counties police force regarding a murder involving a LGBT person when that country wants to make homosexual activity punished by death.

Why is Kato's roomy a fugitive, then? Did he swoon Kato, just to get close enough to kill him?

I just said we can't pinpoint a definitive motive... I am making a rational deduction based on facts. I believe you are the one jumping to conclusions because it fits your perspective of the world. Did I ever say the word hate crime? Of course he was hated for his sexual orientation, and that's evident in the newspaper publication. I have stated we don't know why he was killed or who really did it. What we do know is that he was beaten to death, that he was publicly proclaimed as a homosexual and his hanging was called for by the newspaper. And regardless, it's evident that he was persecuted simply knowing about the newspapers publication calling for his death.

I have trouble believing that whole story, and while it could have nothing to do with him being a LGBT rights activist, I don't think I will ever believe the Ugandan police. That's just the way it is.

**** evidence, though. Right?

I hope you're not one the chirpers that always harps on people proving things.

Nice way to spin my statement, and ignore the fact that the Ugandan police isn't a very reliable source when it comes to treating LGBT equally.

Holy smokes. A corrupt country of bigots, where homosexuals are outted and murdered by the dozens, and a thread that should have honored the life of a brave man standing up for homosexual rights is twisted into a partisian pissing contest. What was the point of starting such crap in this particular thread? To defend Uganda? To insult Ugandan gays or gays in general? Or just because someone of the opposite political persuasion started a thread, and therefore must be challenged? Un-effing-believable.

If the Ugandan government had anything to do with Kato's death, do you seriously think this would even be in the news?

I'm not saying that, I'm saying that the police probably aren't very concerned with finding out who did this, and bringing them to justice.

Oh, I dunno...reality, perhaps? Vice the, "everyone is a bigot/racist/homophobe but me", bull**** that we see on a regular basis.

I guess that's why the killers are running from the police.

Ya know, murder is illegal in the United States, but vigilantism isn't and cops will go whole hog after a vigilante. Perhaps the same standard exists in Uganda. You don't know that it doesn't.

But, hey, don't let reality stand in your way of bigot bashin'.
