Veteran anti-abortion activist Randall Terry says he's mounting a Democratic primary challenge to President Obama in 2012, in part to be able to run graphic TV ads showing aborted fetuses during next year's Super Bowl.

Here's the clincher. He is going to be running as a Democrat. Who would have ever thunk it? LOL.

Article is here.

So what is the controversy? He is free to run such ads if he likes, and can afford them.

You do not ruin the greatest that is the Super Bowl ads with a political ad. It is just wrong.

Network's response:
No, thank you, we don't need your business.

Maybe they will sandwich it between a Doritos commercial and one for Bud Light!

I doubt he will succeed. Far too many powerful people have an interest in stopping Terry. Hopefully the money talks system we live in will do something useful for once.

Well, if it is graphic enough, it may make me look differently at my chips and dip.

wait, so is his goal to be President? or is his goal to run ads?

According to the article, his goal is to run ads. The only reason he's running for president is that campaign ads cannot be censored, and stations must air them regardless of content.

If he has announced his intent solely to run to embarass the president or give him a platform to air his ads, then it is likely he has already given the networks and the court enough evidence to deny him airtime.

That is some pricey commercial time.

Granted it would make one think about the tradegy of abortion but they have been showing wrecks and dead bodies of drunk drivers and yet..................

Messing with the holy grail of football fans is not going to bring you any sympathizers.

If he really cared about the staggering number of abortions he would put his money where his mouth is and go out and do something about it. Not posters and shock commercials.
Why not run a true pregnancy prevention clinics as an alternate to Planned Parenthood and do nothing but concentrate on pregnancy prevention. With free condoms that are more attractive to teens. Whatever it takes to prevent that pregnancy. You could include abstinence too although it just seems not to realistically work.
Abstinence has been successful as preventing infidelity in marriages.
