I said his opinion was not that valid because he apparently thinks Internet forums provide an insight into the minds of the Chinese people in general. Also, there was nothing racist about informing someone a person is not Taiwanese.

Like I said, it is interesting how Chinese media playing a popular patriotic song after several of their citizens are killed by a foreign power is described as "anti-American propaganda" when I doubt a similar response to a similar situation in the media of certain Western countries would be described in the same manner.

I could care less about that. There are plenty of people who speak foreign languages and yet have far less understanding of foreign cultures than they think.

There is a reason the media jumped on the notion, mistaken as it may have been, that Palin claimed being close to Russia gave her foreign policy experience. The claim is simply absurd and generally is not something a person with real knowledge or experience would need to tout as credentials. Considering what ludahai says is no different compared to what I hear from most other devoted China "critics", regardless of whether they have ever even lived near China, it does not compel me to think he has any special insight.

let's see, we have multiple carrier groups not too far off their shores doing exercises that are provoking their nuclear armed neighbor in north korea, and they play an anti-american song in the white house. this seems like a tie, the tie breaker will go to which ever country devalues their currency the most. ready, set, go!

He isn't claiming foreign policy experience so your analogy is misguided.. He is claiming to know Chinese culture and attitudes because Taiwan is ****ing 100 miles away from China and he LIVES there. Not to mention that the Taiwanese ARE Chinese.

I have no doubt he is anti-China, as many Taiwanese are. Anyone's testimony should be scrutinized but you are playing this off as though he is fat redneck who has lived all his life in Texas and is giving his two cents. He ****ing LIVES in Taiwan.

It is merely one source. It is also based on my experience in the country and my knowledge of the history and use of that particular song in Chinese propoganda.

And it was used in an anti-American movie, AND has anti-American lyrics, AND... oh never mind... no amount of facts of logic will ever work with the ChiCom apologist...

I do not think scourge had that impression when he said you were "Taiwanese" earlier.
Doesn't matter. I have never hidden who I am, where I am from, or where my loyalties lie...

I could care less about that. There are plenty of people who speak foreign languages and yet have far less understanding of foreign cultures than they think.
Except that I have lived there, still live in Taiwan, spent most of my adult life in this part of the world... you???

What does Palin have to do with this? And you know, perhaps the China critics have a point? Pro-China rhetoric for DECADES has shown to be WRONG. This was true in the 1960s, true in the 1980s and I believe to be true in 2011 as well...

Actually, neither I nor most Taiwanese people are anti-China. What we don't like is China's government, the way it treats its citizens, the way it flouts international law and the rights of ite neighbors, and of course the threats it regularly makes against our freedoms and rights in the international community.

Are they? The Americans are fools for so often taken the Chinese at their word when in fact the Chinese government is enbarking on a neo-mercantilist strategy specifically designed to dominate economically. They intentionally make it difficult for foreign products to penetrate the Chinese market. People make the point that McDonald's, KFC and other food giants do well in China, and they do, but they are almost entirely supplied by DOMESTIC producers, NOT by imports. If Americans don't wake up to this basic fact of modern Chinese goverment and economic strategy, they will continue to eat the U.S.'s manufacturing and economic base.

Sorry but you cannot cheat the basic laws of economics. While they are playing fun games with their valuation now, they will pay dearly later. They have one of the oldest populations in the world, and will soon be faced with a domestically inflated yuan to pay for these people.

It isn't just the Yuan, though that is a part of it. There are also numerous internal non-tarrif barriers that make access exceedingly difficult for foreign made goods to get into the market. Not to mention the requirements that the government makes of all companies involved in joint-ventures to transfer technology, and this is a recipe for long-term disaster for the U.S. and the rest of the West until they wake up to it. Corporations are sacrificing the advantages that U.S. and Western techonology has built up for short term gain to make shareholders happy... and we will all pay for it in the long run...

I'm saying it's irrelevant. There is an equilibrium requirement that will catch up to them eventually. They cannot cheat the laws of economics. If you do the wrongs things for the wrongs reasons, eventually it will bite you in the ass. America was more or less build on pure hard work over a period of 200+ years. The Chinese want to get their yesterday, this is their problem.
