Hawaii law bars release of Obama birth info

Another logical fallacy. Just because they believe it might be true is not evidence that it is true. That is the problem with birther arguments, they are not based on any real evidence.

yeah, they're all racists.

Not even technically! :lamo

As long as his unit commander knew where he was and didn't officially list him ass AWOL, then he wasn't AWOL. Not technically, kinda-sorta, nor a little AWOL.

Not true. The commander knew where I was when my car broke down in SC. I was AWOL and did extra duty to make up for it.

then you got screwed or there is more to the story you aren't telling.

my car broke down once, I called my 1SG and they ammended my DA-31. I was not AWOL.

INcorrect. NYT's made a good case. Sorry.

You were in the Army. You know that without an official charge, then a soldier isn't AWOL. Do you have any documentation that Bush was ever listed as absent without leave? Without it, then no credible evidence exists that proves that Bush was ever AWOL

AWOL stands for absence without leave. It doesn't stand for the commander knows where I'm at.

The latter, I'm sure. But, I guess it's not impossible that Boo had a really chicken **** company commander.

If the commander knows where you are and you're accounted for and he's not a chicken **** son-of-a-bitch, you're not AWOL.

Leave can be given verbally.

I suppose I can dig up the old articles, but I can speed and not get a ticket, even if an officer sees me. It's happened. I can be absent without leave and not be charged, what I was hoping for when my car broke down. Being charged just makes it offical, and allows for a process. You might ask why he was treated differently.

as I said, you got screwed or there is something you aren't telling.

I have been a commander. all it takes is for PVT Joe Snuffy to call and say, "hey sir, my car broke down and I will be back in two days instead of tomorrow". You ammend the leave request form (DA form 31) to show the additional day and it is no big deal.

you either had an ass for a commander or your story was bull****.

Only if he gives it. If I have it coming. He may know why I'm absent, but that is not the equal to being on leave.

Oh, it's a funny story, involving no money and a female, but the jest is just as I said. Stuck, no car, broke down, and not back on base in time. That is being AWOL.

Unless it's the 63rd time that PVT Snuffy's car broke down and he's going to be a couple days late getting back to the unit. Boo?

like I said. either his commander was an ass or he was "that guy"

Nope first and only time. Took three days. Got extra duty.

and as I said, unless your commander was an ass, or this was the 10th time your car broke down, you should not have been counted AWOL. they should have ammended your leave/pass form to charge you the extra time. even if you didn't have the days, you can go "into the hole" and work them off later.

that they charged you with AWOL shows that either they were jerks or you were a problem child that they were tired of dealing with.

were you officially charged? Article 15? or did they just give you extra duty to make up for the days you missed?

Whether he's an ass or not is not the point. I was fine with everything that happened. Gave me a great story. But the definition of AWOL is the point. It doesn't matter if the commander knows where you are.

No. I was told I was AWOL and it was my lucky day. I was just given extra duty.

A soldier--especially an officer--doesn't have to be, "on leave", to have an authorized absence.

I let a guy go home one time, to deal with a divorce and he stayed gone from three weeks. The PL, 1SG and the commander all knew about it and he was listed as, "present", on the morning reports. He wasn't physically with the unit, he wasn't, "on leave", and he wasn't AWOL.

And Bush's reasoning was?

And Bush's reasoning was?

I dunno and it's irrelevant. He might have been surfing and chasing ***** in Phuket, Thailand for all I know. But, because he was never listed as AWOL, nor was he charged with anything, he wasn't AWOL.

It does matter. If he said, look this was happening, I let the commander know, that would end it. Instead, he looks priviledged, treated differently.
