The sheriff was covering his ass because he blew the opportunities he had to stop the shooter. Now he faces a world of hurt. I'm happy to see a full court press against the Pima County joke.

The shooter had a few very minor brushes with the law. We still don't know what motivated him or if the shootings weren't politically inspired. We know very little about Loughner and nothing as to why he did it.

Let me be clear, I only blame loughner.
However, my gut tells me Dupnik came out blaming the right
before fingers were pointed at him and his department.

Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office The Cholla Jumps
Catawa is my favorite bleeding heart liberal.

That's ridiculous. Do you know what crimes Loughner committed before the shootings?

According to court records, Loughner had two previous offenses.[14] In October 2007, Loughner was cited in Pima County for possession of drug paraphernalia from September 10, 2007, which was dismissed after he completed a diversion program, according to online records. On October 13, 2008 he was charged after defacing a street sign in Marana, near Tucson. That charge was also dismissed following the completion of a diversion program in March 2009

There is no doubt the sheriff should have kept his mouth shut. His emotional attachment to the horrific situation got the best of him. It happens.
If he had been a republican and blamed left wing rhetoric would everyone still be calling for his head?

According to reports...yes...he knew not only the shooter but also his mother. Regardless...from the moment the instance occurred the sherrif knew he was going on camera before the world and blaming this on people that had absolutely no connection. You say 'specualtion is fine'. OK...provided that you are specualting honestly and not spewing partisan political bull****. Its obvious to anyone that isnt slanted his way that that is precisely what he was doing.

We don't even know that yet. We won't know until we discover what motivated the shooter to commit the crime. He has had little contact with anyone for a year and he had a lot of time on his hands. Who knows what he had been watching or listening to. It is obvious he was very angry and he did have political beliefs.. We don't know if they were a part of his motivation or not yet. His main target was a political figure.

So you would be fine with a law enforcement official or any elected official going on national television and using a national tragedy to spout politically based rhetoric? Maybe since he was connected to the congresswoman he should have let the police departments public affairs officer do the talking for him. He was at worst a liar and at best, incompetant. Even AFTER the truth was known he held to his rhetoric. makes me believe more the 'liar' part.

What reports? Tucson is a big city. Why would he know a young kid that only committed a couple of petty crimes?
Can you find a report that verifies that the sheriff even knew the kid?
