WASHINGTON – A Tennessee Democrat is defending his comparison of Republican health care arguments to Nazi propaganda.

Rep. Steve Cohen of Memphis made the remarks earlier this week as House lawmaker debated repealing the new health care law. Cohen, who is Jewish, said Republicans are repeating lies and spreading false information, much like Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels did about Jews before the Holocaust.

He specifically criticized the GOP talking point that the health care bill was a government takeover, which he noted has been widely debunked.

"Just like Goebbels, you say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually people believe it," Cohen said on the House floor. "The Germans said enough about the Jews and the people believed it and you had the Holocaust."

Hmmm... comments on this one leftists? Disneydude? Hatuey? Others???

Over the top rhetoric is bad, no matter who does it. His defending his remarks makes him a complete idiot.

I couldn't believe he actually went on Anderson Cooper 360 the other day and did that... I was flabbergasted at the way he attempted to defend his offensive remarks... He should resign...

Why would you mention members of this board who have nothing to do with this guys comments?

Because they, among others, have militantly attacked Palin's non-involvement in the shooting of Giffords and have even blatently misrepresented the contemporary meaning of "blood libel." I don't expect them to show up in this thread, though I would love it if they proved me wrong...

Oh lord. Proof once again no matter what happens, people will have to make a really foolish spin and try and score points. Incredibly lame. So this is nothing more than a bait thread really.

No, just out to see if hypocrisy exists... and of course, many libs already have (yourself excepted of course)

No, he shouldn't resign.

I dislike the "you shouldn't say that mentality". This is America, and if he thinks Republicans are Nazi's, then have at it. We need more honesty, not Stalinism... where people are fearful of speaking their mind.

Had this Democrat done this before the election, I believe he would not have been elected. In SF, he probably would have gained a few points, but in America... not.

Now that's he's done it after the election, let the moron serve his term and have to deal with the voters in 2012. It's their and our punishment, just as voting for Obama is our collective punishment for not paying attention to the screaming indicators this guy is a Red and has been for a long time.

Let the idiots identify themselves. That is also the value of free speech; identifying truths of all kinds, and the morons.

I want the Libs to be honest for once. This guy has done his part.

Haha this is such a fail of a thread it's almost funny. The article goes on to say that he apologized for his comments:

In a statement released Thursday, Cohen said he never called Republicans Nazis and insisted he was referencing only their messaging tactics. He said critics and the media are taking his comments out of context.

"I regret that anyone in the Jewish community, my Republican colleagues or anyone else was offended by the portrayal of my comments," he said. "My comments were not directed toward any group or people but at the false message and, specifically, the method by which it has been delivered."

When Sarah Palin goes on record to apologize for having compared her 'persecution' to that of Jews burned at the stake during the Catholic inquisition, maybe ludahai will buy himself a shovel and dig himself the dignity necessary to come up with an honest thread.

I want you to find one single post on these forums that supports this guy's statements.

And you should buy a shovel, for everyone knows Palin's remarks required no apology. Her usage of the term was spot on, and it nailed the corksoaker and motherflocker and all his hangers-on for the pieces of dung they are.

The "Blood Libel" remark has be discussed thoroughly... by Jews who claim the usage is fine. It was fitting for her to ascribe it to the action by Sher'f Dumb****, the pathetic and disgusting democrat journOlists use of a massacre for political gain.

Oh good lawd save us all the cartoonish outrage and paint us a picture of Obama already. Sarah Palin used a term which validated the accusations of her rhetoric being extreme in nature. She, like a good Neo-Hebrew Protestant, painted herself as a poor little Jew being persecuted by evil Catholics like ludahai. That the Republican faithful like yourself are defending it is not a surprise.

Obamacare is very much like the Nazis.

The Messiah's call for civility was directed at everyone, except Democrats.

Obamacare is very much like the Nazis.

Yes, the Nazis were all about... mandates to buy health insurance from private companies...

Palin was invoked as responsible for the idiot shooter's actions by a bunch of political hacks masquerading as journalists, and a Sher'f who was equally politically motivated. She rightly used a term that reflected the putrid nature of their actions.

That you don't understand it, doesn't surprise.

Th usage has been discussed ad nauseum by Jews and Gentiles, the usage has been seen as correct by Jews; that it still hasn't penetrated your skull is really no wonder.

Not exactly, but they did have government run healthcare...a single payer system, the likes of which you are very fond of.

They also had an army, so every country with an army is like Nazi Germany.

OMG! They had cars, too! That makes us all like the Nazis. The Olympic games were held in Berlin! Yep, we're all Nazis.

See how silly you sound?

Deuce made an obviously uninformed comment and I corrected his comment. I never said that anyone is just like the Nazis.

Actually, a single payer healthcare system was in place in Germany, long before anyone had ever heard of the Nazis.

That was my point exactly, that it was silly to say something like that. My comment was intentionally silly.

If you're calling Deuce silly, why did you direct your post at me?
