Bin Laden threatens France in new message

AP WIRE PARIS FRANCE Breaking news -- President Nicolas Sarkozy today announced his country's unconditional surrender to Al-Quiada. More details to follow.

well, that settles it then. France surrendering proves there really is a war on terrorism. It's not a real war until France surrenders.

Americans didn't turn over Jews to the Nazis. The French did with enthusiasm.

The French didn't help American forces off of Normandy. They were hiding so they wouldn't get killed during the fight. Don't be ridiculous. The French are worthless.

There is no such thing as treason in America.

Don't you ever get tired of generalizing?

I know I'm tired of it...

Wrong. The SS St Louis was a microcosm of the holocaust.

Ordinary frenchmen joyfully turned in their jewish neighbors to the nazis. The SS ST. Louis was a single instance that didn't involve decisions made by ordinary americans.

I notice certain trends.

You never really have a lot of positive things to say in general... Especially when it comes to people...

I have an agenda. I am acting on that agenda. Demoralizing, depressing and discouraging leftists is a part of that agenda. The thing that makes it easy to carry out my agenda is that I speak the truth. The truth is that America is now experiencing the Great Reckoning for its past mistakes.

I have the wind at my back and smooth seas ahead. This is a Day on the Bay for me. Everything I have been predicting is coming true. The predictions are easy because I have seen this pattern repeated throughout history. I have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Anyway, regardless of the jokes and non-intelligent banter, lets please discuss the issue at hand. Perhaps I should have more carefully considered my wording, but we are all (hopefully) adults, so will the French stake a harder line towards Islam as a result of this threat or reconsider.

What is in France's national interest? If I were Sarko I would reject bin Laden's ultimatum, continue fighting, and when everyone has forgotten about the ultimatum, I would give the order to withdraw from Afghanistan. The entire war is a fool's errand.

Why do you believe it to be a "fools erand."

Why do you believe it to be a "fools erand."

There is no objective in the war. There is no real strategy in the war. The resources needed to somehow "win" this war will never be given to the troops. The troops don't have the decade it will be necessary to theoretically win this purported counter-insurgency.

Most importantly, America is repeating exactly the same mistake made by the Chinese of the Ming Dynasty. And we are now paying the price for this mistake. The price will be much higher as time goes by.

Is it bad that when I first saw this thread I read it as "Biden threatens French" and actually found it believable?

1. Sarkozy's government would never in a million years negotiate with terrorists, let alone "surrender" to them.

2. I suggest the usual ignoramus elements in this thread educate themselves on the ultra-efficient French counter-terrorism units. You all have no ****ing clue what you're talking about.

3.

The French are efficient in providing internal security within France. But France is worthless in a foreign fight in south central Asia. They come too few, insufficiently armed, without air cover, and without recon. The French have no real expeditionary capability except in Africa.

I agree totally, but will Sarkozy use Bin Laden's threat as an excuse to harden his Islamic stance?

Their counter-terrorism measures are already the hardest, bordering on human rights abuse as it is. I don't blame them. What they're doing works. I just wonder how much harder they can push it without crossing over into complete illegality from an international human rights stand point. I guess my answer is... maybe, probably. :)

Wow, what a shocker. A thread full of French bashing and surrender jokes....

Yeah, it's great isn't it?

Bin Laden threatens France in new message - Yahoo! News

So, will Sarkozy and the French capitulate to Bin Laden, or will they stick it out?

In other news, France has put a personal ad in the New York Times. It seems that bin Laden and company do not have an embassy anywhere in the world, so France is asking for any nation to volunteer to be bin Laden's proxy, so they can surrender with dignity.

I hereby volunteer to become Ambassador Extraordinaire of the Petit Francais to the Emir Osama bin Laden. I know how to kowtow. After pressing my forehead to the cave floor, I will hand the Emir the Sword of French Valor (a letter opener) and swear fealty to the Caliphate on behalf of French everywhere.:)

Has any one ever seen the way the French treat the Polynesians of the Society Islands? Horrible. The Polynesians hate the French. But they love Americans. Viva Polynesia.

Let them eat coconuts.

I would certainly hope that France took this and sent more troops to Afghanistan to aid in completely destroying al quaida. If they don't want the world to think they are weak surrender happy pansies then they should do something and not reinforce that stereotype.

Hey, look everybody -- it's a France Surrenders joke! The kind of joke which has only been made about a billion times on this very forum!

I'm impressed with your originality.

Really.

A couple of years ago I took a flight on Air France from Papeete to Paris loaded with French troops. Scum of the earth.
