Hu says China not seeking arms race or domination

BBC News - Hu says China not seeking arms race or domination

Chinese President Hu Jintao has said China has no interest in pursuing an arms race or exerting military dominance over other nations.

On the third day of his visit to the US, Mr Hu called for co-operation on economic and security issues.
From every cultural study that I have read on the Chinese peoples and government, it appears that these sentiments are true. Thoughts....

I don't think this is completely true or untrue. China is becoming very interested in asserting its economic domination over other countries, and that could lead to political and military action, though the way that the Chinese economy is set up I doubt that will happen any time soon. The tensions between China and the US are over the Americans' desire for the Chinese to enact policies which would hamper their economy. Obviously China doesn't want to do that, they want to maintain the status quo.

In China and Japan, they don't exactly believe in telling you that they're planning to kill you. What else would you expect them to say?

We said the same thing with our massive defense build-ups during Reagan's Presidency. You need guns and weapons for defense, and no one can expect the good will of humanity to come through

Third, Communists are known bald faced liars.

Who's Chin Now, is adept at not answering questions... say like things concerning human rights.

Hopefully the Commi's will collapse, but that could have an economic impact worldwide as their mess gets straightened out. As a Communist run nation, I see hostility. They remind me of a group of Alinsky trained agitators.

An aside: Who's Chin Now's presser with his red leaning buddy the other day reminds me of the following when asked about human rights:

Please list and explain these policies. I'm calling BULL**** until I see them. The US wants China to stop being a lying bastard on the trading floor. China cheats its ****ing ass off on the valuation of its money.

No particularly. But I do think the USA and China are headed for a clash, sooner or later.

Re: Hu says China not seeking arms race or domination

Actually, the Chinese have a strong history and belief in sovereignty, and if one will simply pay attention to China's actions and responses in the UN, one would easily find that China is always placing itself as the defender of state-sovereignty for any actions that the UN wishes to undertake. China is more than happy letting the US remain "world police" and have at every step done nothing to counter this view. Even their actions in the realm of entering new markets shows this. For instance, when the US provides aid monies to other nations in exchange for trade, there are always other stipulations. China provides aid with no strings attached, simply allow us access to your market and here is the aid money. China just wants to do business, not step on the sovereignty of those it comes into contact with.

The safe measure is to not trust China and what they say, or even by what they do because we don't really know what they do - they're still predominantly a closed country.
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.
