"Don't ask, don't tell" cost tops $50,000 per expulsion, study finds - CNN.com

Glad to see the GOP and the military were more than willing to spend 50,000 grand per gay just to keep them out. Not to mention many of them were in very skilled positions.

A new study puts a price tag of more than $193 million for the Pentagon to implement the policy of removing gays and lesbians from military service over a six-year period.

40% of those service members had skills in a "critical" occupation or foreign language such as Arabic, or both.
So, someone feels that an openly homosexual would be a great interpreter in Afghanistan??
No I would guess that these Arabic speaking boys would rather prove that they were homosexual than go to the Middle East. I also expect that these arabic speakers have much better jobs in the private sector and arenít being shot at.

    1,442, servicemembers who were removed
Since the military canít ask the service members must have told and they may have done that to get out. They were released not removed.

7 service members held a critical occupation and also held an important foreign language skill."
That must be half of the people we had with such qualifications. ď7Ē that will cost us????

Nothing new here, I know of 2 guys who got out of the Navy, Both got excellent technical training from the navy, then found a way to become civilians again...
First one had 2 years in, more than half of that in electronics schools, then claimed to smoke mj....Stupid Navy offered the "admit to smoking dope program" and you get out with a general discharge. That was in 1969. He had enough time in to use the GI bill to go to college for 4 years.
Second one was almost thru Nuclear Power School, supposedly a $100K education, and ate until he qualified to be booted on the fatboy program around 1981....

Are you saying we should stop discharging everyone that is unfit for service?

First, do you want to back up your claim that these soldiers only claim to be gay so that they could get out under DADT? No, thats alright, I know you can't. And as much as it happens in the military, its an exception not a rule.

Second, are you seriously insulting gay/lesbian men and women in uniform as being sub-par translators???

    Lastly, every soldier counts.

You seem to hang with free loaders. There should be a clause in there for morons like these two. You get discharged on the fatboy or maryjane programs and if you have not served "X" amount of time, every year short of that you must refund the citizens of this country that are paying for your education.

Of course there would be no interest free loans either. Market value baby... no discounts.

That would solve fatboy and maryjane but quick. It should apply for the DADT rejects too. You fight it and lose, you pay your costs and the costs the citizens of this country have had to fund to kick your ass out.

Some would probably say the homosexuals should be fined for it.

He's complaining about how much it costs to discharge a soldier. Right?
