Health Care Reform Repeal Passes House

The Democrats campaigned on healthcare and got toasted in the mid-terms.

Not really. Most of them either ignored it, shunned it, or meekly defended it. The most recent opinion polls show that support and opposition to the health care reform law are about evenly split, with the opposition maybe SLIGHTLY ahead. It's certainly not massively unpopular, and many who oppose it wanted it to go farther.

Umm. OK. Not sure where you got such a weird idea, but to each his own.

someone who actively killed him vs one who did not?

liberals operate under the concept that they must DO SOMETHING whether its good or harmful. in most cases its harmful

It seems like you're more interested in party politics than improving the country.

Let me ask you, what is your solution for the problem of children with prexisting conditions not being able to get insurance and people who are diagnosed with cancer getting dropped from their insurance plans? Let them die?

you're 100% correct

but mccaskill says she'll kill the mandate

and pros know what that means

Yeah. It means that she's up for reelection in a conservative state in two years, and that she knows she'll never have to make good on that promise.

true

then why did all the candidates run away?

true

then why did all the candidates run away?

I don't know, you'd have to ask them. Many of them have all the time in the world to answer such questions now that they're out of work.

more government control of anything doesn't improve the country

covering pre-existing conditions screws the entire concept of insurance

wtf would i buy insurance if I can wait til the doctor tells me I need a kidney transplant or brain surgery?

I don't think it was just about healthcare, but it damn sure didn't help the Dems's cause.

I'm seeing this song-n-dance from Leftists, claiming that the reason the Dems were voted out, is because the Dems weren't Liberal enough. Sorry, but I ain't buyin' it.

Well, I don't agree with that either... meaning I agree with you. The Dems lost seats because of the economy. Doesn't actually matter whether it was their fault or not, but I would say that's a pretty universal response from the country. If the economy sucks, the party in power loses votes.

claire mccaskill's not

neither are lieberman, conrad and nelson

are you following joe manchin's career?

Talking point.

:doh

Fail as you continue to reveal you have no clue how insurance works and doesn't work.

:applaud:applaud

hence the mandate... finally, you're catching on.

It was, after all, a concept developed at the heritage foundation...

with all due respect, you don't appear very familiar with cspan

That's accurate. I haven't watched C-Span in ages. WAY too slow for me. Doesn't NV mean "no vote"?

Because you cant always plan these things ahead of when you need them. We also need to focus more on prevention. What is your solution?

thats because you think he won because people voted for him. by and large they didn't. Obama and the Democrats won largely because a massive surge of Americans showed up to vote the Republicans out. just like in 2010, they didn't show up to vote for Republican, they showed up to vote against Democrats.

This is pretty accurate. And has been going on for decades. I don't remember the last time I actually voted FOR someone.

we just changed washington

tell it the folks who lost the cold war

with all due respect, your vision of conservatism comes across to me as cartoonish

On this board, most of the conservative vision of liberalism comes across as cartoonish. Be nice of folks actually stuck to discussing the philosophy they actually KNEW.

oh, really?

you can't figure out why all those candidates fled?

You seem to be operating under the assumption that politicians are omniscient and are able to carefully calculate the political ramifications of everything they do. That assumption is not accurate. Perhaps they assumed that if they ran away from health care reform, their chances of reelection would improve...I don't know. Why ever it was, it didn't work out very well for most of them.

If the American public is so furious about insurers no longer being allowed to kick them off the registers when they get sick and/or discriminate against their preexisting conditions, then why isn't this reflected in any recent poll on the subject? At most, there is a lukewarm plurality of opposition to the health care reform bill. And even among those who oppose it, a substantial number of them wanted an even MORE expansive health care reform law.

what are you babbling about=the penalty is cheaper than the insurance

and that mandate is going to be ruled unconstitutional

down the toilet it goes

pain is a most useful teacher--rewarding people for poor choices is idiotic

I'm not trying to insult anybody here. I really am not. But if you are regularly watching C-Span can I suggest you take up a hobby? Get outside more often? Go on a date? Seriously, I'm into politics and I have on occasion watched C-Span for an important vote or event. But "watching" C-Span regularly could be a cry for help!

My dear boy, its not that simple. People change insurance polices for several reasons. Often children are on their parents insurance. Some, like me, got my own insurance when I went to college through my school. Then when people graduate they begin working and get on the insurance plan of their employer. Some people go to grad school and have to switch insurance companies to whatever company is working with their new school. Even after people are in the work force, some quit working for a company and start their own business and then have to pay for insurance out of pocket. Each time one switches health insurance, the new company screens for preexisting conditions and it is not uncommon for people to get rejected based on this. So again, what is your suggestion to get these people coverage?
