Mexican gunman fires across border toward U.S. highway workers - El Paso Times


FORT QUITMAN, Texas -- At least one Mexican gunman fired a high-powered rifle across the border at four U.S. road workers Thursday in an isolated ghost town east of Fort Hancock, Hudspeth County sheriff's officials said.

The bullets did not injure the four men.

Mike Doyle, chief deputy of the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Office, said a rancher spotted a white pickup fleeing the area on the Mexican side at 10:30 a.m. -- the time the shots were fired.

The pistoleros are everywhere, not just on the border. They live near me. They are literally everywhere now. They can't be stopped. This is their country now.

You see, the big lesson to learn from the Mexican/American issue seems far too difficult for the average global citizen to grasp. It's a lesson learned throughout history (the India situation of the 60s serves greatly) and ignored. People immigrate (legally and illegally) because they are fleeing a situation where they face no opportunity to progress their family beyond the station of their fathers. Other people, whether in America or Europe, begin to develop rhetoric that would whip the local populations into a frenzied obsession over immigration issues and how they are losing their native identities (For Americans this means a bitter process of evolution and acceptance. For Europeans this means an eventual ethnic cleansing through evicton or genocide). However, they both deny the simple truth and the truth is that if we make life manageable in foriegn regions and countries then they won't immigrate at all. Would Mexicans seek to cross the American border if they had it better in Mexico? Would the entire Middle East be happier and less volitile were it in better shape economically and socially? Of course, this means that dictators and national/regional oppressions have to cease in order to provide the individual his opportunity to prosper. This, of course, just leads to the global masses insisting that that grand misused and abused word, "soveriegnty," protects the misery of people from aid. This encourages the status quo and evolves into immigration for the people who are able to escape their lot in life and forces them across borders. And we are right back at the beginning of my paragraph where people were obsessing over the dillema of immigration and denying the solutions.

Of course, a handy dandy dictator who keeps his population in line and prevents his people from escaping their situations solves all the immigration problems doesn't it?

We are stupid people when you think about it.

Are you a radical? The colonists are history. This is 2011. Mexicans escaping their government are no different from the Italians, Irish, and Chinese that also came in waves and were met with distrust and dirty looks. In the end, their descendents are running the country too. Strife is a matter of design for many. If you can't make it in America, than you deserve your strife.

Factual error on your part. The Italians, Irish and Chinese did not violate American law when they came here. The overwhelming majority of Americans oppose the violation of American law by the illegal entry of Mexican citizens and the overwhelming of the social welfare system by illegals. Besides, America no longer needs impoverished, uneducated and unskilled workers. It needs engineers, scientists, CPAs, and professionals. The people coming to America illegally from Mexico bring nothing to the table except the ability to lower wages in America.

There is simply no reason for America to exist if what you hope and wish for comes to pass. In that event, let America die as illegal aliens transform America into a really successful and stable place like Mexico. There will be no acceptance. Dragon's teeth will be sown for your new America to wrestle with.

You're right, the 10% unemployed can pick grapes, lettuce, etc. PLEASE, Mexicans are not the only ones illegal. Chinese, south americans, africans, ME's, etc. Granted there are more mexicans, but who is counting.

Secondly, when the Italians, etc, came here, all they had to do was show up, be processed through Ellis Island, and they were here legally. Minus, the sick, mentally ill, etc. So, this comparison is like comparing apples and oranges.


I thought the thread was about Mexican shooting at Americans. What people fail to realize is that more people are killed monthly around the mexican border than in the ME. We are at war, and no one believes it. Take our troops out of Iraq, and put them on our border to secure it. You better do it up north also, because you have the ME in Toronto, Canada getting ready to plan terrorist attacks.

I think we are going to see a massive escalation in hostilities reaching across the Border because inaction on the part of the Obama administration while he and so many others in Local, State and Federal Governments pander to illegals for current and future votes.

The problems are being ignored or swept under the rug for now but it won't hold much longer.

The Drug Cartels have reached into the Mexican Military so far that before too long we might end up in a shooting war, and if it happens this is one Country that we need to keep after we win the war.

The resources of Mexico are largely untapped and very extensive. It's time to enjoy the spoils of a war rather than pay to rebuild another future enemy.

Just a thought.

Hardly an error. I simply made mention of the wave of immigrants from ethnic people. In this way, they are no different. Our immigration laws have changed since former waves, true. But in the end, they are a people seeking a better environment. If we no longer wish for immigration ( a grave error in civilization prosperity and growth) then we have to offer them a reason to stay home.

Well, the truth is that the majority of the American people are ignorant as to what has made this nation successful and have bought into the political grievances of the Parties. And last I checked, no American engineer, scientist, etc. is willing to work the fields so lets be a little more practical on what "America needs." With every wave of immigrants, we inject new ideas and fresh perspectives. It in invigorates our civilization and introduces a greater capacity for success. This is historical. If you wish to shut down the borders or severly cut off the imigrant life blood that has made this nation great on every level, then we may as well assume a European identity. They have spent centuries ensuring that Europe is for "Europeans" through ethnic exportation, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. Along the way, they have ensured a complete lack of immigration policies. The result is a cultural deadzone that stares inthe face of stagnation as well as a current Muslim back lash throughout Europe. Europeans are dumbfounded as they refuse to accept immigrants from a group of immigrants that no longer wish to assimilate.

You are not being practical to the reality. There is no stopping this problem. Therefore, the answer is to accept them legally through work visas, etc. This obsession over Mexicans has become exaggerated and in no way threatens the American identity. Of course, like I have stated, if we wish to lessen the illegal immigrant wave, then we must focus more on fixing the Mexican government. Give them a reason to stay and they will. But we won't do this because we are stupid. Instead we will just whine about illegal immigration as if someone somewhere has a magic wand or that some Berlin Wall or some Great Wall of China along our southern border will cure us from this "scourge."
