The Arizona sheriff investigating the Tucson shooting
that left U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords critically
wounded had harsh words today for those engaging
in political rhetoric, calling conservative radio host
Rush Limbaugh "irresponsible" for continuing the
vitriol.
"The kind of rhetoric that flows from people like Rush
Limbaugh, in my judgment he is irresponsible, uses
partial information, sometimes wrong information," P
ima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik said today.
"[Limbaugh] attacks people, angers them against
government, angers them against elected officials and
that kind of behavior in my opinion is not without
consequences."
Limbaugh today railed against the media and Dupnik
for trying to draw a link between the heated political
climate and the shooting rampage, calling the sheriff
a "fool." But Dupnik stood by his assertions.
"The vitriol affects the [unstable] personality that we
are talking about," he said. "You can say, 'Oh no, it
doesn't,' but my opinion is that it does."
You knew it was coming, didn't you? The lefties are coming out in droves now, probably we'll have anti-gun nuts all over now.

This Sheriff has been saying the same thing on all the shows. This is the first time I've heard him mention Rush though. He's politicizing it for whatever reason - and we don't know what if anything motivating Loughner to start shooting. Give that this is all speculation from the Sheriff I'm not sure what he gets out of it.

It's best that his friends won't defend him.

Well, at least he's leaving it at blaming the Rush's of the right, not the entire right, as was discussed in another thread.

I really think the article should mention the sheriff's political association. He is a democrat. Whether that matters should be up to the individual reading the article. Instead, the reporter made that decision for all, and left the impression that there may not have been a political motivation to him blasting republicans. BTW, the shooter has now been identifed to be an indpendent - he was not a republican.

You've got to be kidding me! After this jerk of a sheriff comes immediately out blaming the tea party with not one fact he has the nerve to say this!

As I stated in a different threat - the media, some uber left blogs and some politicians are seeing what will stick. They threw the tea party and Palin out the first day and the tea party fell off right away, but Palin got some support and lots of others jumped on that bandwagon. A day later the Palin thing is starting to fall off given a ton of evidence now showing liberal blogs, politicians and even Obama have been using as bad and worse language indicating violence. So now the tactic is to either claim the guy was just a crazy nut with NO political affiliation or pick a few easy targets (tried and true) and let it wallow there for a while.

Kudos for the Sheriff. Most people wouldn't have the balls to take on Rush Lardass for his partisan vitriol. It's about time someone did. I don't care how many people say "he's just an entertainer." Many people take what he says seriously which can be scary.

What are you talking about? Democrats take on Rush Limbaugh all the time. Heck, Obama was calling him the leader of the republican party for a while.

The Sheriff rushed to judgment before he had all of the facts. That's unprofessional in public safety officers.

I would have been shocked if he was a registered Republican.
Yea, I noticed not many identify the sheriff as a dem.
They also seldom identify Gifford as blue dog who wants a secure border, is against amnesty, was a Republican at one time and is well liked by both sides.

The seven-term sheriff and Bisbee native is well known in Arizona for speaking his mind and has established himself as one of the leading liberal voices in a state that boasts only a handful.

Dupnik, 73, supported Giffords during her campaigns for congress and attracted headlines last spring as one of the most prominent opponents of the state’s controversial immigration law, S.B. 1070, which was signed by GOP Gov. Jan Brewer. Though the policy has been blocked from implementation by a federal court order, Dupnik vowed that he wouldn’t enforce the “racist” law.

Where di he blame the Tea Party? I skimmed the article, but I did not see that.

You're kidding right? Al Sharpton is trying to get him off the air as we speak. He didn't like Rush's funny joke about Driving Miss Nancy.
Someone is always "taking him on." Just because they always lose doesn't mean they don't try.

They should both be locked in a cell together:2razz:

It's like the high tide report... happens every day.

Poor Rush. Again, he has become a victim to the media or the democrats, or to sane people who question the methods used by pundits on both sides who question the crap he preaches. Oberman and Rush need to be hung by the gonads for using this event to incite wing-nuts to their dimwitted causes.

Don't worry, Rush will get the support and sympathy from wingnuts that he hoped to get this morning when he got on the air.

Oh please... they guy loves being the brunt of the liberal attack. He lives for it. If anything this makes him bigger and better than ever.

I couldn't find it either. Just headlines saying he did but then the quote wasn't there.

However he did speak of the bigatry in AZ and this his opinion of the tea party.

One Old Vet » AZ Sheriff Calls Tea Party members Bigots
Sheriff Clarence Dupnik went after the tea party this weekend at an immigration forum, saying its members are bigoted.
“We didn’t have a tea party until we had a black president,” Dupnik said at a forum held at St. Francis Cabrini Roman Catholic church.
Asked how it came up in the discussion, he said, “I brought it up. I think I was talking about how bigotry is alive and well in America.”

Clarence Dupnik is the Anti-Joe Arpaio Sheriff in Arizona
"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government. The anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous," said Dupnik, referring to the troubled suspect, 22-year-old Jared Loughner.

Dupnik said Arizona, embroiled over the last year by bitter divisions over illegal immigration and health care reform, has "become the mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

Veterans Demand Apology From Far Left Rep. Linda Lopez
Posted by Jim Hoft on Sunday, January 9, 2011, 3:09 PM

Yesterday Arizona state Rep. Linda Lopez was on FOX News and blamed tea partiers for the attack at the Safeway. Of course, she had no evidence of this. Rep. Lopez also suggested that Loughner was an Afghan veteran.
Today, veterans are demanding that Lopez apologize for her hateful rhetoric.
