    from the link in question

Under the headline, "Construction Stops at Physician Hospitals," Politico reports today that "Physician Hospitals of America says that construction had to stop at 45 hospitals nationwide or they would not be able to bill Medicare for treatments."

No, from the link in question:

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has more than 22 physician-owned hospitals. Nationwide, there are 265, with an additional 29 set to open before Dec. 31, when the new law bars federal payments.

Doctor-owned hospitals plan suit on new health care law | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News | Dallas Business News

I suspose we can post the entire article, but there is no mention of politic in that article, and no claim of construction stopping.

The law would also withhold federal reimbursements to physician-owned hospitals that expand after the end of the year – which would disrupt work under way at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital.

Tell that to Politico as they seem to have gotten it right.

Another interesting tidbit on Obamacare. Keep being in denial.

Guys, I don't need to tell anyone. Just link a credible source showing that construction has actually stopped, not delayed, not might be delayed, not we don't like the reform. Show that construction has stopped, and hospitals are closing, which was the claim. And use a credible source.

We don't need a Federal Mandate to solve the problems of people not being able to afford healthcare. What we need is the ability to sell across the state lines, eliminate tort reform, and handle the illegal alien issue. How many of those people who do not have healthcare have the ability to purchase it but choose not to? How many are illegal aliens? You think we need this Federal Mandate for the rest?

Life is about making choices, sometimes the things you want get in the way of the things you need. What about the people who can afford healthcare but choose not to purchase it? The number that cannot afford healthcare doesn't require a 2400 page govt. mandate that does nothing to improve access or quality. MA is a perfect example of what is going to happen.
I agree with all of that, what I don't understand is why people always seem seem to miss the bigie with our health care issue, that is, the fact that prepaid health care plans themselves run up the cost of medical care due to creating a system in which the user doesn't price shop for medical care and medical care providers don't have to compete on price.

Am I just totally off base with this? Isn't the root of the issue the fact that medical care cost so much? Why is insurance even a part of the issue?

I agree and thus I like what Indiana has done with the HSA's which put competition into healthcare. That is the missing ingredient in the debate.
