Sixth-Grade Girl Has Date in Court After Writing in Wet Cement

Re: Sixth-Grade Girl Has Date in Court After Writing in Wet Cement Read more: http:/

Let me say this slowly so you'll understand.....

I've worked with concrete and concrete contractors, as well as most other types of contractors for over 30 years.

I'm sure you have. As a concrete tester. I don't think you've installed conctete for ****, though.

Sometimes in the past, my only responsiblity was to test the concrete, on other projects I supervised and inspected the actual installation. Some GCs wanted me for testing only, others wanted more involvement.

Amazing that this other experience only showed up after I asked you how much concete you have actually finished.

Understand now ???

I understand that you think that the work time at pour is the same as the work time after finishing, which leads me to believe you've never supervised **** in concrete.

You really haven't worked in construction at all have you, at least in major commercial construction??

I've got 11 years of expereince in residential construction, primarily in carpentry, but I've done work in every trade.

If you really are an expert, then answer the question I asked about time available to refinish after the concrete has been finished if the correct amount of water is used.

I started to question my own expereinces with concrete so I made a few calls to the guys I used to work for to get their opinions, All of whom have at least 30 years expereince installing concrete (not just taking core samples) and they said that what I was saying was abslutely correct with giving about an hour for refinishing after the job had been finished.

Residential ??? Just as I thought.

I've been wasting my time.

Re: Sixth-Grade Girl Has Date in Court After Writing in Wet Cement Read more: http:/

I don't think you've laid any concrete outside of your dads backyard.

Wet Cement isn't marred by a little touch up after it's been laid and some kid writes her name in it.

The problem comes when it's reached that "tacky" state where it takes some effort to put the name in. As long as it hasn't started to actually harden, you can repair most damage with a little work.

What makes you think this is a rebuttal to what I had said?

I'm sorry to have replied to you at all, it appears you over inflated your own experience and have merely been trolling the thread.

Have a nice day Tucker, don't bother responding, I won't even see it.

Just continue to allow in your willful ignorance, as usual.

I understand that maybe you can't just let it go because it is vandalism. However, I don't think they need to be so aggressive as they are being with this little girl. She's a kid, kids do stupid things all the time. And writing one's name in the concrete, it's not the worst thing a person can do. I think in cases like this, you know the police can pick them up if they see it, and then take them home. Tell the parents. "Hey, we caught your little girl writing her name in the concrete. That's destruction of public property, vandalism, blah blah blah. Most parents are not that thrilled when their kids get brought home in a police cruiser. I think that perhaps they are going overboard in prosecution.

Residential doesn't have sidewalks, now?

Still no response to this, Gill?

How can you pretend to be an expert when you aren't even aware that there are sidewalks in residential construction?

yep, the time for a hard cure to commence varies by the proportion of water in the slurry
and those guys likely said they "placed" concrete rather than installed it

They actually said "pour" and "finish" instead of "place" or "install".

Place it, install it, pour it, or pull it at the end of the day, finishing concrete isn't rocket science, boys.

Mike Rowe picked it up on one episode of dirty jobs. :lamo

maybe it's a regional thing
using the actual terms of a trade helps to allow one to distinguish the pros from posers

"Pullin' mud", is a common term in this neck of the woods.

It was such a comical question, I didn't think you were serious.

If you want to compare a measley sidewalk in front of a house to a 800,000 + sf commercial building with concrete foundation, slab, tilt-walls, retaining walls, and loading docks, be my guess.

Just don't expect me to waste my time with you.

Who's making that silly ass comparison? We're not talking about 800,000 + sf of commercial building with concrete foundation, slab, tilt-walls, retaining walls and loading docks.

We're talking about a sidewalk.

No, we were comparing our experience with concrete. Your sidewalks vs. my multiple nationwide megastore construction experience.

No, we're discussing refinishing a sidewalk where a kid scrawled their names in it.

You decided to turn it into a dick measuring contest when you misrepresented your expereince in teh cocnrete business.

Unlike you, I haven't been changing my qualifications throughout the discussion.

From the word go, I said I had worked in the concrete trade from time to time. I wasn't the one who was at one point testing concrete for thirty years only to magically become a superviser and ultimately th egrand pubah of all commercial concrete.

Not only that, but I've since verified that my experiences and statements were indeed correct with multiple people who actually have 30 years expereince with pouring concrete, which is something you do not have.

Ok, if you think that someone has to the exact same job for 30 years, I don't know what to tell you. Some people actually learn their profession and advance. It's called being promoted. You should try it sometime.

And some people are actually able to do more than one thing... imagine that.

You verified your experience with multiple unnamed people known only to you ??? Wow, that convinced me. I give !!!

You've proven nothing except you did some summer work helping out some real contractors with some houses when you were in school.

Go away, I don't have time for your foolishness. :2wave:

Re: Sixth-Grade Girl Has Date in Court After Writing in Wet Cement Read more: http:/

Ok, if you think that someone has to the exact same job for 30 years, I don't know what to tell you.

That's what you claimed earlier.

Are your qualifications changing again? Why am I not suprised?

Some people actually learn their profession and advance. It's called being promoted. You should try it sometime.

How does one get "promoted" beyond running their own carpentry company, exactly? I've never hid the fact that this was my particular trade expertise (check how many times I've posted this in the past), nor claimed that I had as much experience in concrete as I have in that trade.

And some people are actually able to do more than one thing... imagine that.

Considering my main trade was carpentry, I absolutely realize that people can do more than one thing. I wouldn't have any concrete expereince if that wasn't the case.

You verified your experience with multiple unnamed people known only to you ??? Wow, that convinced me. I give !!!

Yep. That's all I needed in order to learn that you were full of ****. You already knew you're full of **** about your qualifications, though.

Not that I expect you to actualy admit it, but hell, your qualifications'll change three or four more times before this conversation is finished, right?

You've proven nothing except you did some summer work helping out some real contractors with some houses when you were in school.

Even if that was how I got my experience in concrete (it wasn't. I actually went out on concrete jobs with a few friends of mine when we between carpentry jobs, which is similar enough to be comparable to waht you claimed. Unlike you, however I was honest about that from teh start when I said I "Worked the concrete trade from time to time" in my very first post in this thread) it still proves your initial claims about me being a fraud were wrong, doesn't it?

And if your initial claims about me are wrong (as you've now admitted) it also shows that you, sir, are the fraud.

Go away, I don't have time for your foolishness. :2wave:

It sucks being shown to actually be the fraud after making that accusation towards someone else, doesn't it?

Really ??? Should be easy for you to find where I posted that I ONLY did testing of concrete, right ??

I'll be waiting.

Here's where you first started talking about your qualifications:

Oh, I understand exactly what it means. I've been testing concrete for over 30 years.

Now, why wouldn't you talk about your real qualifications regarding finishing concrete at that point if they are so wide and varied.

It was only after I asked you about your actual experience pouring and finishing concrete did you magically gain the more legitimate qualification of supervising concrete pours (which came after I had talked to a real expert in order to test the accuracy of my own experiences).

Why on earth would you go talking about slump tests before you talked about supervising monstrous commercial jobs when discussing your qualifications?

Simple answer: you're full of **** and you've inflated your qualifications to try and pretend to be an expert in finishing concrete.

While I'm no expert (and I've never pretended to be), I do know that what I've said in this thread is indeed accurate AND that what you've said about the time after finishing the concrete is still workable is not accurate.

You can lie all you want, but we both know you're full of ****.

Ok, don't feel sad. It feels bad to be embarrassed, but you don't have to get all pissy about it. You made claims about something you knew little about and got called on it. You'll live.
