Christie is a bad joke and a toady for extremists like Grover Norquist.

It looks like we have another George W. Bush in the making... Christie is a conservative hero? :lamo

I don't mind Christie or his policies, generally, but I do think he should be back in New Jersey during a state of emergency for the state. It doesn't look good for him, but it hardly disqualifies his policies.

I agree that Christie should have arranged for a couple a parachutes so that he could sky dive back into the governor’s residence where he would be trapped there instead of in Florida. I guess he could have gotten closer by plane and then hiked into NJ on some industrial snow shoes??

People dying in several states but I hear no calls for Berry to rick his life to get back to the White House.

two questions
1- when did Governor Christie leave the state?
2- when was the big storm first forecast for New Jersey?

Several sources indicate that the Governor was warned about the incoming blizzard and the absence of his Lt. Governor but departed anyway.

Good grief. What's he supposed to do, come back and shovel snow? I think he can give orders from Florida.

Now while I completely agree, was it not you that ridiculed Obama for not being at the site of the oil spill enough, and were saying stuff like "plug the damn hole already"...?

Maybe he should have looked at the weather before leaving and saw that if a major storm was coming up that way, it might be a better idea for him to stay in the New Jersey. But honestly, this just isn't that big of a deal.

I have to agree with pbrauer... that Christie would leave a Democrat in charge during a state of emergency marks a serious lack of judgment.

And where is your fearless leader while a blizzard pounds the north east? Must all politicians camp in their office waiting for an emergency? What exactly is your point?

This.

While people may complain that Christie is not here, I wonder how many people are complaining that Obama isn't in the White House working.

Well be happy that both Christie and Obama combined so far are no where near the vacation time that Bush had clocked up at this time of his presidency... doubt that record will ever be broken.

I didn't think it was his place to plug the damn hole. I did think he was slow to respond to get help with keeping the oil away from shore and cleaning it out of the gulf. It didn't have anything to do with whether he was at the exact location or not. He also did more damage with the moratorium than the spill did.
So if Christie was in NJ what difference would it make if he's not going to be shoveling snow? Can't he give orders from Florida?
Sorry, I'm originally from Ohio, and a blizzard somehow doesn't seem like the same thing as a huge oil spill.

I don't remember George and Laura running all over the globe on lavish vacations and throwing lavish parties in the WH.
So what if they spent a lot of time at the ranch? He was able to work from there and they were cheap vacations. Foreign leaders went to the ranch. It seems he used the ranch as a second WH and not as a vacation spot.
I doubt any president will break Obama's record of lavish vacations, parties, and date nights and it's only been 2 yrs.

Isn't snow removal the job of state and local governments? Do you think OUR president should usurp their power?

LOL give me a break.. what a cop out. The home and work place of the US President is the White House, and the official presidential retreat is Camp David. Bush was on his Texas ranch long from the centre of power for over 1/3 of is total president days.

As for holding lavish parties ... that is what US Presidents do. You do know it is one of the primary responsibilities of the US President to entrain foreign dignitaries? And just because you now see and hear more about these parties because there is a likeable and young President, does not mean they did not happen under Bush 2... no one cared enough because he was and is a joke of the ages.

And lavish vacations? Which? Give me a break.. any vacation a US president is lavish compared to you and me. Or are you saying that the US president is not allowed to have a vacation now? Funny coming after 8 years where the sitting REPUBLICAN President was almost more on vacation than working in Washington.

And because you are President of the US, then all of a sudden romance is out of the window with your wife? Are they not allowed to have sex with each other and do the whole romance thing? Are US presidents required to not have sex with their wife's and only with hookers and mistresses? I find it very refreshing that after Reagan, Bush 1 (somewhat), Clinton (for sure) and Bush 2 (for sure) that love and romance are back in the White House. Was getting to be a very cold place... unless that is the norm of a US household.. sleeping apart, not showing much affection what so ever .. if you are lucky. Then again Bush 2 was so dumb he almost killed himself with a pretzel, so guess romance was alien to him. Wonder if the marriage was arranged like everything else in his life.. school, jobs, so called military service.. probably was.

I agree. His policies disqualify his policies, and this just adds a level of personal cowardliness to the equation.

One wonders if this would be a headline had the Gov. a -D at the end of his name...

I read this post and I hear Buffalo Springfield singing "paranoia strikes deep...."

It doesn't look good for the governor to be out of the state when an official state of of emergency is declared, and I think people have a right to expect their elected officials to be present during any kind of crisis even if arguably there isn't much that person could do if they were there.

Did Governor Christie get stuck in the spinning tea cups on the Mad Hatters ride and that is preventing his return? I have to guess that somehow, someway then can get the Governor of the state back in a decent amount of time .... if he wanted to forgo another ride on Space Mountain.

I'm sure you would have been the first to post it Mr. V ;)

Welcome back btw, Good to see you again.

Not really. As long as someone was home to mind the shop, who really cares? It's winter, snow and blizzards happen...

Now, if a Hurricane had been baring down on the state, and he still left... that's different.

I heard you were using Sisko as an avatar and i couldn't believe it, so I came back to see ;)
